    Senior Accountant

    Company: large publicly traded REIT company

    Location: DTLA | Los Angeles, CA 

    Salary: up to $90K DOE + bonus 15-20%

    Overview

    This is a hands-on role that will require detail involvement in US GAAP accounting and in the financial closing process. The Senior Accountant will provide the general day-to-day maintenance relating to various types of domestic and international investment portfolio’s (such as Loans, Equity investments, Real Estates, and Derivatives) general accounting practices, internal controls and financial analysis and reporting.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare month-end bank reconciliations, close journal entries, trial balances and segment financials.
    • Review and maintain the accounting function for domestic and foreign investment portfolios, including loans, equity, and real estates
    • Review cash flows and assess quarterly impairments or fair value adjustment for investments
    • Prepare accretion calculations, monthly accruals, monthly and quarterly reporting and cash projections.
    • Prepare and review monthly close workbooks including tie-out to supporting schedules
    • Prepare supporting schedules and compile information for SEC reporting; assist with 10-K/10-Q tie out
    • Prepare contribution, distribution, and loan draw
    • Perform consolidation and elimination of various investment entities
    • Coordinate with internal and external auditors
    • Calculate periodic capital calls and distributions
    • Complete various special projects and assignments

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of progressive US GAAP accounting experience
    • CPA preferred and knowledgeable in US GAAP/historical cost accounting
    • Experience in accounting for mortgage and/or commercial loan assets preferred; including interest accrual
    • Intermediate understanding of financial modeling and concepts, including yields, DCF, cap rates, IRRs, etc.
    • Proficiency in MS Office
    • Positive, ability to work effectively under pressure and effectively multitask
    • Strong analytical, operational, organizational and interpersonal aptitude
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong work ethic with the ability to work extended hours during critical periods and to meet project deadlines
