    VP for Data Operations

    Our client is a large reputable Financial Services firm with over $100B AUM located in Downtown Los Angeles |DTLA].     Responsibilities:

    This individual will serve as the lead data steward and product owner (or co-owner) of the client’s account master solution. There will be a focus on build-out and management of the backlog and relevant tasks to progress the account master road map while also making incremental enhancements to the solution once it is in place. Business analysis will be a skill set required to ensure all work related to the account master is improving the platform and a robust solution is in place on behalf of the client. In the long term, this role may also include project management for small to medium-sized initiatives in the Reporting and Data Warehouse areas.

    • Product ownership of the Account Master platform in the context of agile scrum methodology
    • Focus on the vision, roadmap, and prioritization of the product backlog
    • Work with stakeholders to determine business requirements and priorities of the highest value
    • Communicate prioritized business requirements to the scrum team and define acceptance criteria
    • The Product Owner is also accountable for effective Product Backlog management, which includes:
      • Developing and explicitly communicating the Product Goal;
      • Creating and clearly communicating Product Backlog items;
      • Ordering Product Backlog items; and,
      • Ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible, and understood
    • Data steward lead for the subset of Account Master data, overseeing data quality, serving as business lead for relevant change initiatives
    • Championing adherence to data governance principles, policies, and best practices
    • Translate requirements into actionable stories for delivery within the agile scrum model
    • Makes timely decisions that affect enterprise change and remove obstacles toward progress
    • Ability to conduct data and business process analysis to identify and substantiate requirements and solutions
    • Actively seek opportunities to standardize requirements across teams and organizations
    • Coordinate requirements review meetings with business stakeholders to validate requirements
    • Partner with Account Master scrum team to review and enrich user stories and epics as needed to support backlog refinement and grooming
    • Communicate effectively with Data Technology colleagues, while providing guidance and direction to achieve desired results
    • Drive and lead requirements documentation and deliver quality products within agreed-upon dates

     

    Experience Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or other relevant disciplines.
    • 5-8 years plus of relevant experience, preferably in the financial services industry
    • Strong and proven oral and written communication skills
    • A team player who works well with functional and technical resources
    • Ability to effectively communicate with executive management
    • Extensive experience and ability to leverage SQL to conduct data-driven analysis
    • A proactive mindset with the ability to drive outcomes in a self-directed manner
    • Experience of working in a complex environment where there is a wide range of parallel and mutually dependent activities
    • Proven negotiation skills, for example in defining the scope of work and agreeing on user requirements
    • Experience with agile scrum methodology, ideally with product owner experience
    • Experience with data governance practices, ideally with data steward experience
    • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
    • Experience with data visualization platforms like Microsoft PowerBI or Tableau is a plus
