ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Our client is a leading manufacturer and distributor of consumer-packaged goods CPG wholesale and eCommerce. They are seeking an Accounting Manager to join their tenured corporate Finance team. This is a great opportunity for a current Accounting Manager, a strong Senior Accountant from industry or transitioning out of Public Accounting ready for the next step with some prior supervisory skills.
- Reports to: Controller/Director of Finance
- Direct reports: 3+ (AP Supervisor, AR Supervisor, Staff/Sr. Accountant)
- Work environment: fully in office/onsite with work from home flexibility case by case
- NOTE: Effective January 1, 2022, the incumbent will need to be fully vaccinated
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Controller & Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations of Accounting department.
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger
- Assist with financials audit activities and annual financial review/audit
- Asses current practice and procedures and make recommendations for improvements
- Prepare, review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy, quality, competency and completeness.
- Train, cross train and manage other accounting personnel in policies and procedures regarding accounting and finance
- Manage the process full cycle of accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Manage full cycle of general ledger accounting functions
- Manage month end, quarter end and year end close
- Manage bank deposits, reconcile bank, merchants and credit card statements
- Coordinate with other departments
- communicate with vendors and customers as necessary to ensure data competency and audit.
Finance Related Duties:
- Manage royalties and Sub-license, including reports and payments
- Manage internal commission calculation and payments
- Manage outside sales commission calculation and payments
- Assist with weekly vendor payments
- Manage other reconciliations including balance sheet, fixed assets, prepaid, inventory, liabilities, tax and other as needed and assigned
- Inventory, cost and other financial analysis
- Daily sales report and other report as necessary
- Manage daily/weekly/periodic inventory cycle counts or annual fiscal counts
- Preparations and submission of sales tax, VAT, business property tax, other tax and other fillings
- Manage and review cost accounting updates to financial system
- Prepare Borrowing base as require
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting process
- Problem solves and resolves issues/concerns as they arise
- Complies with local, states and federal government requirements
- Maintains internal control, ensure company policies and procedures
- Other duties and projects requested by Director of Finance/CFO or President
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related field required
- CPA with some public accounting experience is a plus
- Thorough knowledge of US GAAP
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 2+ years of supervisory experience a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization
- Strong leadership skills and achieving results
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel to advanced level (Pivot Tables, VLookUp, etc.)
- Manufacturing, Distribution or Inventory related industry experience a requirement
- Bilingual Chinese Mandarin is a plus (to communicate with overseas vendors)
