    Controller

    Our client is a high-growth company that is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Corporate Controller to join their team. The Controller, reporting to the CFO, will oversee the company's financial results, ensure monthly reporting objectives and management expected analyses are delivered accurately on time. Recommend actions for improving efficiencies/profitability across the business and adding value to the business. The assessment and improvement of current internal controls and procedures will be expected. This candidate will be a key member of the finance/accounting team and must be self-directed as well as be highly motivated to assume a leadership role in the strategic financial management of the company. This individual needs to be tech savvy and understand the importance of the company’s multi-channel goals and alignment of finance with the strategies.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the day-to-day accounting & finance activities, but also be presented the opportunity to build and professionalize the accounting department for a Company in the infant stages of adopting GAAP accrual accounting.
    • Responsible for developing/evolving key accounting and business processes to streamline the financial close and reporting process.
    • Prepare management reports on a monthly, quarterly (board pack) and annual basis
    • Must be operationally-oriented and be able to advise upon and oversee the accounting operations, business systems, financial controls, financial reporting, and budgeting/planning functions for the company.
    • Ideally will have worked for a private equity portfolio company and understand and have experience with the accounting requirements associated with the private equity industry (e.g., M&A, opening balance sheet, EBITDA, etc.)
    • Responsible for the company’s federal, state and local tax compliance, including managing external tax advisors
    • Play a leadership and mentoring role in a growing internal accounting function
    • Assist management with ad hoc value add projects
    • Be a central figure in establishing and maintaining the firm’s culture and core principles.

    Requirements:

    • B.A. in Accounting/Finance. CPA license is preferred.
    • Minimum 3+ years as a Controller / Assistant Controller in a Small to Medium sized company experience.
    • Thorough understanding of US GAAP
    • Private Equity preferred
    • Marketing/sales type of company, wholesale, manufacturing or retail (consumer products) experience preferred
    • Well organized, accurate and detail oriented; must be able to multi-task
    • Must be able to effectively interact with the C-level executives
    • Experience with fostering a relationship and managing the current financial staff
    • Candidate must be willing to take a hands-on approach to the job and truly enjoy working in accounting and leading a team
