    CFO JOB DESCRIPTION

    Our client is a well known and reputable Entertainment/Media company located in Los Angeles/Century City, CA.  They currently have an opening for a CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER to manage all aspects of the company's financial management, reporting, control and compliance, as well as to provide strategic and operational support to the senior management of the holding company and its operating divisions. The ideal candidate is a highly-engaged and diligent executive who has worked within the entertainment industry.

    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Serve as a member of the executive leadership team, participating in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating/financial models and operational execution
    • Oversee budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the company's strategic plan, including payroll and administrative expenses
    • Manage FP&A function with input from division operating executives and the Strategic Planning Group
    • Develop and oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions including implementation of efficient and scalable accounting processes, tools and control systems
    • Oversee/Manage the full life cycle of productions including setting up entities, proper funding and tax structures, reading cost reports and working with the COO and CCO to track production budgets and managing tax credits and documentation efficiently.
    • Manage preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements, bank reporting (including monthly borrowing base and covenant settlement reports), financial analyses and any other ad hoc reports requested by executive management
    • Develop and manage financial metrics dashboards and reports to help manage financial and operational elements of each business
    • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation
    • Manage preparation and support of all external audits and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors
    • Determine appropriate accounting treatment for management reporting and GAAP financial statements in conjunction with outside accounting firms when appropriate
    • Be responsible for all tax and compliance filings, working with the corporate controller and outside tax advisors
    • Participate in strategic tax initiatives, policies and other tax matters and projects
    • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
    • Manage the company's corporate insurance program(s)
    • Oversee daily and weekly cash management; approve invoices and payables; execute check signing
    • Supervise AR management and provide support to collections activities
    • Ensure cash/treasury function is optimized and providing adequate liquidity for each business unit
    • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure cash levels are monitored properly
    • Optimize cash, investment, and asset management

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

    • Bachelor’s in accounting, finance or business administration. Masters a plus; CPA and/or MBA is strongly preferred.
    • CPA from Big 4 or Tier 2 public accounting firm required
    • 10+ years experience in media and entertainment company operations including senior finance and accounting oversight.
    • 4+ years’ experience as Controller, Director of Finance/FP&A or equivalent within a mid to large entertainment company, preferably with direct experience in film and television production/distribution; CFO experience is preferred.
    • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Direct experience overseeing successful capital raising for entertainment companies.
    • Direct experience preparing periodic reporting to board and stakeholders.
    • Deep relationships with capital markets investors, lenders, and advisors.
    • Experience building and managing a finance and accounting department with 15+ employees.
    • Direct experience in oversight of strategic planning and long-term corporate planning.
    • Experience working with information technology staff to manage finance and accounting software packages.
    • Intacct and QuickBooks accounting software experience a plus, including querying and journal entry posting.
    • Nexonia expense reporting software application or other similar applications.
