    Our client is a private held growing Global Beauty/Cosmetics Consumer Products [CPG] eCommerce/Retail and Manufacturer/Distributor located in the San Gabriel Valley. They are looking to add a dynamic and entrepreneurial Brand & Product Marketing Manager or Director for one of their leading brands.

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the VP of Marketing, the Brand & Product Marketing Manager/Director manages all phases of development of new consumer products. This position will also involve executing brand development/ digital activities and will liaise between the internal teams and vendors to executing retail/trade marketing promotional programs. The position will ensure annual product conversions and seasonal launches are on trend, innovative and first to market with strong supportive holiday/peak season plan.

    Scope of Responsibilities:

    • Own the product development process from new product initiation to completion of production for all new product launches and reformulations. End-to-end product development responsibility to include:
      • Product Innovation – works with respective Brand Managers to identify relevant trends in products, ingredients, formulas and packaging
      • Product R&D (product, form, component innovation) directing in-house and third party R&D departments from Product Profiles through final approval
      • Sourcing Management (Global Vendor Sourcing)
      • BOM (Bill of Materials) Development
      • Pricing, COG Targets
      • Primary & Secondary Package Development (functionality and structural design)
      • Product Communication (Features/Benefits)
      • Shade Matching
      • Formula Approval
      • Licensor Approval
      • Initial Sample/Model Development
      • Setting of QA Standards in COI and at Factory/Vendor
    • Develop and execute brand digital and social media plan to support new product launch and brand development, including but not limited to monthly social media content calendar, email blast contents, influencer marketing.
    • Work with retail marketing team to enhance brand content and retail account specific activities to drive top line revenue and bottom line profit.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (creative, sales, retail marketing, operations, regulatory, and licensors) for product launch strategies and execution.
    • Manage license relationships including contract, business plan and product approval.
    • Develop a forward looking business strategy and product plan which defines market trends, opportunities and risks within the cosmetic/beauty category
    • Develop and manage marketing product development schedules and ensure buy in from internal partners
    • Analyze market share, identify competitive strengths and weaknesses and opportunities that arise to realize additional market share, revenue, and profits through competitive positioning
    • Perform other assigned reasonable projects and functions by department supervisor and management

    Qualifications:

    • BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field is required; MBA is highly desirable
    • 5+ years in a key Marketing/Product Development management role within a Consumer Packaged Goods company in the Cosmetic/Beauty/HBA industry
    • Strong background in the product development process and digital marketing.
    • Knowledge/experience in domestic and international sourcing of components and raw materials
    • Passionate about beauty and fashion, creative and willing to take risks to develop unique product concepts/ideas to positively expose our brand and create greater visibility to set us apart from competitors
    • Highly entrenched in the world of social media with the ability to pitch unique social concepts from product perspective
    • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships and communicate with all levels of management.
    • Strong analytical skills, proactive approach to anticipate issues and provide solutions
    • Highly organized and calendar driven, with the ability to handle many competing priorities
    • Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written with a high level of creativity and attention to detail
    • Speed to market and able to work in fast paced, ambiguous and entrepreneurial work environment – a competitive advantage for Company.
