    Vice President, Finance

    Note: this is a hybrid work schedule with 3 days on site at Playa Vista, CA and 2 days remote

    Our Client is Headquartered in West Los Angeles, has distributed their products through 100K doors at chains such as Costco, CVS, Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid and Walmart. The company is expanding in its healing mission with the extension into Cannabis as well as mental health psychedelics. This position reports directly to the CFO and works directly with the COO, EVP Sales and President.

    Key Functions/Responsibilities:

    • Financial Planning and Analysis o Responsible for the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes that inform internal financial management decisions, as well as forward looking guidance during earnings releases.
    • Empower business unit and department leaders with financial analysis to inform critical decisions.
    • Manage capital expenditures budget and support purchasing decisions with ROI analysis. 

    Financial Modeling

    • Create financial models to evaluate prospective deals, including license agreements, supplier arrangements, partnerships, leases and any other contract with financial ramifications.
    • Create flexible valuation models used to support M&A activities.
    • Proficient using standard financial metrics, including NPV, IRR, ROI, and payback periods.
    • Treasury: Procure and maintain strong relationships with banking partners.
    • Explore and evaluate banking opportunities, including: credit, debt, liquidity, capital raises and investments.
    • Comfortable navigating complexities related to banking in the cannabis industry.
    • Ensure compliance with covenants related to loans or borrowings on the company's credit line.

    Financial Reporting and Accounting

    • Partner with the Controller to ensure proper accounting of new transactions, deals and capital expenditures. o Work with Assistant Controller to write Management Discussion and Analysis for external financial reporting and commentary for earnings releases.
    • Infrastructure o Build and develop standard processes to facilitate long term growth. o Implement new tools to enhance reporting and planning activities.

    Staffing / Leadership

    • Coach and develop staff to enhance technical and soft skills and promote career growth.
    • Partner with the CFO to develop financial strategies that execute on the company's short-term and long-term objectives. o Effectively communicate purpose and vision to staff. o Establish annual goals for the department and provide timely feedback on performance. o Promote cross-department collaboration while continuously pursuing team wins.

    Required qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • 10+ years in leadership positions, demonstrating continuous career progression with increased responsibilities.
    • Primary experience working within a publicly traded company.
    • Ability and desire to work in a fast changing environment, as the company is newly public and entering new markets (Cannabis and Psychedelic mental health).
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Process-oriented organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize work, and establish and execute plans to meet tight deadlines. • Strong team player and highly collaborative.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience working in a high growth environment.
    • Experience working in a CPG company.
    • Experience working in the cannabis or healthcare industry.
    • Experience with SAP Business One.
    • CPA and/or MBA preferred
