    ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

    Our Client is a stable Aerospace & Defense manufacturer with strong parent company backings that's publicly traded. They are seeking a progressive Assistant Controller to lead their accounting team and as a success to Controller/VP of Finance.

    Essential Functions:

    • Develops assessments and business analysis to identify areas to improve business performance.
    • Assists and performs various cost accounting activities to ensure the ongoing accuracy of product cost information. Perform variance analysis and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Prepare, lead & review monthly closing activities as well as financial reporting for both internal management team and corporate. Prepare and/or review monthly/quarterly account reconciliations.
    • Provide analytic support for quarterly business performance results to Corporate
    • Lead monthly review on critical business metrics and lead cross functional team to develop and monitor both short term and long term action items.
    • Responsible for leading the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Cost Accounting functions.
    • Prepare quarterly sales tax return and other similar returns due to regulatory agencies.
    • Monitors business processes for compliance with internal control procedures and SOX Requirements. Lead all internal/external audits.
    • Lead and Manage customer audit and/or government CAS Audit.

    Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree required with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
    • 7+ years of combined accounting experience. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as plant controller or cost manager in a standard cost manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on cost accounting, reporting and variance analysis.
    • Must have technical skills and experience in financial reporting for a publicly traded global company.
    • Experience working for a large public accounting firm is preferred.
    • Strong GAAP and SOX knowledge/experience
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proven ability to manage and develop staff.
    • Technical acumen, creative thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
    • Advanced computer skills with MS software (Excel, Words, PowerPoint)
