    CVT/VTS for ER/Specialty

    Qualifications

    • Must be a licensed technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) and a Veterinarian Technician Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care

    • 5+ years experience in Emergency and Critical Care veterinary medicine

    • Keeps up to date with current medicine by completing continuing education

    • Good communication skills with coworkers and clients

    • Can work efficiently and multitask

    • Promotes a positive work environment

    • Can lift and restrain up to 40lbs

    • Draw blood, place peripheral IVC, and place intraosseous catheters in small animals and exotics

    • Placement of nasal cannulas for nasal oxygen delivery

    • Ability to use and monitor the Snyder oxygen cage for oxygen dependent patients

    • Ability to perform basic and advanced medical math

    • Advanced knowledge of medications, potential medication interactions, and potential adverse effects of medication

    Responsibilities

    • The ICU Nurse (VTS ECC) is a credentialed Veterinary Technician Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care senior technician responsible for caring and monitoring all hospitalized patients in the ICU

    • They are expected to use their advanced ECC knowledge and training to be a leader on the floor, taking initiative on advanced procedures and critical patients and promoting the growth and advancement of fellow ICU technicians

    • Daily duties include obtaining and analyzing patient vitals, administering medications, performing non-surgical procedures, monitoring minor procedures, recording patient information in the electronic medical record, communicating with clients, maintaining the cleanliness of the ICU, and relaying information to doctors and technicians to ensure proper patient care and follow-up

    • Advanced knowledge and recognition of disease patterns are expected

    • The ICU Nurse (VTS ECC) will be involved in the training and education of other technicians as well as in creating and maintaining the most up-to-date hospital protocols to mirror current standards of care

    Benefits: Competitive wage: $30-35.00 an hour depending on experience and skills. Negotiable.
