    Veteran Recovery Support Specialist (ADC or Equivalent / Veteran Peer Support Specialist)

    Organization: Client Care Continuum, LLC (CCC) Program: Adult Veteran Residential Behavioral Health Services Location: Arley / Crane Hill, Alabama Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Clinical Director Supervisory Oversight: Clinical Director (clinical alignment); CEO (program integration, veteran engagement, external coordination)

    Position Summary

    The Veteran Recovery Support Specialist provides direct recovery support, mentorship, and program assistance to veterans receiving residential behavioral health services at Client Care Continuum. This role supports clinical and recovery operations by assisting veterans with engagement in treatment, promoting recovery stability, facilitating peer connection, and reinforcing therapeutic goals.

    The position may be filled by an individual holding an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC) credential, equivalent substance use credential, or Veteran Peer Support Specialist certification, and must be filled by a U.S. military veteran.

    This role serves as a critical bridge between clinical treatment, recovery engagement, and veteran-centered program integration.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Veteran Engagement and Recovery Support

    Provide peer-informed recovery support to veterans participating in residential treatment.

    Serve as a recovery mentor and positive role model, promoting stability, engagement, and program participation.

    Assist veterans in understanding and engaging with their treatment plans.

    Reinforce coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, and recovery-oriented behaviors.

    Assist veterans in transitioning into and sustaining structured daily routines.

    Clinical Program Support

    Assist clinical staff in facilitating therapeutic activities and structured programming.

    Support group sessions, psychoeducational groups, and recovery-oriented programming under clinical supervision.

    Provide observational feedback to clinical staff regarding resident engagement, progress, and behavioral changes.

    Assist in crisis identification and escalation in accordance with program policy.

    Veteran Advocacy and Support

    Provide veteran-informed perspective to clinical and leadership staff.

    Assist veterans in navigating VA systems, appointments, and recovery-related administrative processes.

    Support coordination with VA providers, Veteran Courts, Community Corrections, and veteran support organizations as directed.

    Program Operations Support

    Assist with daily program structure and resident support activities.

    Support safe, therapeutic residential environment operations.

    Assist in maintaining program integrity, safety, and therapeutic milieu.

    Documentation (If ADC or credentialed counselor)

    If credentialed as ADC or equivalent:

    Document recovery support activities in accordance with CCC policy and ADMH/CARF standards.

    Assist with recovery-oriented documentation under supervision of clinical staff.

    If serving as Peer Support Specialist:

    Document peer support activities in accordance with program requirements and applicable certification standards.

    Reporting and Supervisory Structure

    This position reports jointly to:

    Clinical Director

    Clinical alignment

    Treatment program integration

    Clinical oversight and supervision (as applicable)

    Chief Executive Officer

    Program integration

    Veteran engagement and external coordination

    Strategic program development and veteran outreach support

    This dual reporting structure reflects the integrated clinical and veteran-centered mission of Client Care Continuum.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Must meet one of the following:

    Option A — ADC or Equivalent

    Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC) credential in Alabama; or

    Equivalent recognized substance use credential acceptable under ADMH standards; or

    Eligible to obtain ADC credential.

    Option B — Veteran Peer Support Specialist

    Certified Peer Support Specialist (or eligible to obtain certification); and

    Veteran Peer Support Specialist training preferred or required per program needs.

    Required Qualifications (All Candidates)

    Must be a U.S. military veteran

    Demonstrated understanding of veteran culture and recovery challenges

    Ability to work effectively with veterans experiencing mental health and/or substance use conditions

    Ability to maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards

    Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

    Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and program policies

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or veteran services

    Experience working with PTSD, MST, or trauma-informed care environments

    Experience working in residential treatment settings

    Experience working with VA systems or veteran support organizations

    Physical and Professional Requirements

    Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed

    Ability to participate in crisis response and program support activities

    Ability to interact effectively with residents, clinical staff, and leadership
