Athens Veterinary Services is seeking a Small Animal Veterinary Assistant to join our team! We are a family-friendly, fast-paced small animal practice dedicated to providing high-quality medicine using modern technology—while still enjoying what we do every day.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible, and a strong team player. Attention to detail, dependability, and excellent organizational and communication skills are essential. Candidates must be able to follow established protocols and procedures in a busy clinical environment.
Position Requirements:
Comfortable handling dogs and cats
Ability to safely lift and move over 50 lbs
Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced setting
Able to handle stress while maintaining a professional and compassionate demeanor
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Assisting veterinarians and technicians with medical, diagnostic, and surgical procedures
Preparing and assisting with procedures
Record keeping and client communication support
Cleaning and maintaining equipment and facilities
Stocking exam rooms
Preparing lab samples
Administering medications as directed
Assisting with radiographs and other diagnostics
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous veterinary experience preferred but not required
Schedule & Compensation:
Full-time position
Schedule varies based on clinic needs and includes some Saturdays
Hourly wage starts at $13.73. Pay based on experience and skills.
