    Job Summary

    We are looking for a friendly and organized Veterinary Technician to join our animal care team in a beautiful, new, progressive hospital in DUMBO, Brooklyn. We believe in providing a work environment that you will look forward to being in, treating staff like family, and providing a salary that you can live on. Veterinary Technician responsibilities include assisting the Veterinarian with surgeries and procedures, coordinating animal care, and monitoring animal recovery. You will work closely with the entire clinic staff to ensure the health and well-being of all of our pet patients.     Responsibilities

    Triage pets as they arrive at the clinic

    Interview pet owners to obtain a patient history

    Take vital signs and acquire blood samples

    Assist with surgeries and monitor animals after surgery

    Administer medications and provide at-home dosage instructions for clients

    Keep accurate patient records

    Being comfortable in going over the dispensed medications with owners

    Comfortable with handling exotic/pocket pets

    Being familiar with diagnostic tests; the reason for them, the protocols for them and being able to communicate that with the other staff and clients

    Being familiar with the core and lifestyle vaccines and being able to communicate to owners what they are and why they are recommended

    Qualifications

    Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role

    A strong skill set in phlebotomy, catheter placement, anesthesia protocols, anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative care is essential

    Knowledge of animal care and handling

    Excellent communication skills

    Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a busy environment

    Patience and a love for animals
