Position Overview

The Veterinary Assistant provides essential support to veterinarians and technicians in the care and treatment of patients. This role is focused entirely on behind-the-scenes responsibilities, ensuring smooth hospital operations and high standards of patient care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate toward animals, and thrives in a team-based, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely restrain and handle animals during exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Clean and disinfect exam rooms promptly after appointments.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the surgical suite and treatment area.
• Prepare, clean, and sterilize surgical packs and instruments.
• Assist with laboratory tasks such as preparing samples and running in-house diagnostics (under supervision).
• Support technicians and doctors with procedures, treatments, and patient care.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness, including laundry, sanitizing equipment, and stocking supplies.

Qualifications

• Prior animal care experience (veterinary clinic, shelter, kennel, or grooming) preferred but not required.
• Strong animal-handling skills with focus on safety and compassion.
• Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently under supervision.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple tasks.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform standing/repetitive tasks.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
