Position Summary
Veterinary Assistants are team players who support the Veterinarians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians, and other clinical staff by providing excellent care for our patients and clients. Veterinary Assistants are responsible for performing general animal care tasks.
Looking for day, evening, and overnight shifts.
Essential Functions
• Care for animals by bathing, feeding, watering, and exercising
• Assist in holding and restraining animals during exams, surgical procedures, and emergency procedures
• Clean and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment and tools
• Ensure exam and operating rooms are stocked and sterilized both prior and after surgical procedures.
• Change animal bedding, and kennel materials including but not limited to vacuuming, moping, and emptying garbage in patient care areas
• Monitor and maintain stocking levels of all floor supplies as directed
• Administer oral and topical medications
• Assist in collecting samples such as blood or urine for testing
• Assist with treatments
• Assist with euthanasia’s and after-care instructions
• Assist in training other Veterinary Assistants
• Communicate with owners and families on surgery and recovery instructions
• Perform administrative duties such as but not limited to:
• Client communication (admissions, discharges, hospitalizations, and medications)
• Entering client data into ezyVet and Smartflow (TPR, weight, etc.)
• Perform additional tasks assigned by management

Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or course credit in veterinary technology or animal science from an American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited program is a plus
• 1 + Year(s) of experience in animal care or in a clinic preferred
• Basic understanding of animal behavior and health care
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
