What we're looking for:
Access Veterinary Care is seeking a (L)VT who wants to practice in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are primarily an urgent care clinic providing affordable outpatient veterinary care, with strong opportunities for professional growth and skill development. Full-time and part-time positions are available.
As a veterinary technician at Access Veterinary Care, you’ll play a central role in patient care by assisting veterinarians with sick and injured patients, running laboratory diagnostics, monitoring anesthesia for sedated procedures, assisting with surgery, performing dental radiographs and prophylaxis, communicating with clients, and carrying out treatments under veterinary supervision.
We’re looking for technicians who want greater autonomy in case management. The ideal candidate enjoys client education, direct patient care, and practicing to the full extent of their training. Experienced technicians will have opportunities to learn and display advanced technical skills, including placing skin sutures, applying bandages and splints, performing thoracocentesis, and more.
Main Job Duties:
Patient Care
Perform restraint, diagnostics and treatments on sick or injured patients in collaboration with the DVM
Triage urgent care patients to identify patients in emergent need of medical intervention
Administer medications and treatments
Perform physical assessments and coordinate preventative care under the direct supervision of a DVM
Perform humane euthanasia under the direct supervision of a DVM
CPR
Surgery/Anesthesia
Perform anesthesia and assist in surgeries, both routine and emergency
Dental x-rays and prophylaxis
Intubation
IV fluid therapy with regular and syringe pump
Performing different local anesthetic blocks.
Client Education
Nutrition and wellness care
Informed anesthetic consent and procedure discharge
Medication side effects and compliance
Participate in team approach to educating clients on medical concerns and chronic disease management
Help develop client education tools
Oral health care
Laboratory
Run in-house diagnostics
Prep samples for referral laboratories
Patient sample collection
Use of safe sample handling techniques
Take digital x-rays
Pharmacy
Maintain in-house formulary
Coordinate prescription refills
Process online prescriptions
Fill prescriptions using the 5 rights
Preferred Qualifications:
1-3 years working in veterinary medicine
LVT Preferred (or eligible for LVT)
Excellent verbal communication skills

Job Type: Full-Time or part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour depending on qualifications
Expected hours: 40 per week for full time, 10-30 hours a week for part time
Schedule:
10 hour shift
Day shift
Weekends
Potential for evening hours and Sundays in the near future.
