Job Summary
The Animal Doctor, Ltd, an AAHA Accredited small animal hospital is seeking a full time Certified Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant . We are located in Cary, IL which is a Northwest suburb with direct Metra service to Chicago.
A strong candidate must have specific experience with comfortably assisting veterinarians and veterinary staff with animal care during a variety of medical procedures such as examinations, X-Rays, Ultrasounds, surgery, dentistry and rehabilitation. Applicants must be comfortable with using computers. Expertise with Microsoft Excel, electronic records management and animal hospital practice management software is a plus. You should enjoy establishing and sustaining progressive, professional, pleasant interactions with customers and staff alike, as well as, the ability to work independently or in a group setting. Candidates must possess an energetic, outgoing, high-initiative personality and must be punctual, well organized and reliable. Must be flexible to work some evenings and a minimum of two Saturdays a month. A Bachelors degree is a plus. Experienced and new graduates are welcomed to apply.
Responsibilities
Interview pet owners to obtain a patient history
Triage pets as they arrive at the clinic
Take vital signs and acquire blood samples
Administer medications and provide at-home dosage instructions for clients
Comfortable assisting veterinarians and veterinary staff with animal care during a variety of medical procedures:
Examinations
X-Rays, Ultrasounds and CT-scans
Soft tissue and orthopedic surgery and dentistry
Rehabilitation and physical therapy
Using computers, knowledge with Microsoft Excel
Maintain patient medical records electronically
Assist in all areas of patient management including providing customer care services
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role
Knowledge of animal care and handling
Excellent communication skills
Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a busy environment
Patience and a love for animals
