    VetsEZ is currently seeking a remote HEALTH INFORMATICS SPECIALIST to work closely with other VA health professionals to design, develop and assess ways to manage health data and the information systems used. In this position, you will gather pertinent healthcare data, develop effective information systems and procedures.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and implement system-wide Informatics standards and processes to support standardized informatics practice throughout the health system
    • Acts as a liaison, role model, educator, and champion for end-users in understanding, utilizing, optimizing, and designing systems and processes
    • Understands system requirements and integrate them into the development of health information technology systems as applicable
    • Support the development and management of new data governance and operational processes
    • conduct statistical and spatial analyses to present findings to appropriate stakeholders.
    • Produce clear and comprehensive written analyses and data visualizations, as well as other data assets for distribution to internal and external audiences

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Certification (e.g., RHIT, RHIA, CHDA, CHPS) or Bachelor's degree in health administration, computer sciences, or a related field
    • Master's degree in health informatics preferred
    • 2-5 years experience as a health informatics specialist or clinical informaticist
    • Demonstrates proficiency in a general-purpose programming language for data analysis (Python, R)
    • Advanced proficiency with SQL and database management
    • Proficiency with the data schema of at least one major EHR vendor (Cerner, Epic, Athenahealth, Allscripts, eClinicalWorks), especially Cerner terminologies (Code Sets, Event Codes, Event Set Hierarchy).
    • Superb analytical, organizational, and time management skills
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience working with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL stack (SQL Server, SSMS, SSIS) or InterSystems Caché a plus
    • Experience advising generalist data analysts on interrogating healthcare datasets a plus
