Vice President, Investment and Production Tax Credits

Orlando, FL
Full Time
Paid
  • Responsibilities

Lead the structuring, monetization, and risk management of federal investment tax credits (ITCs) and production tax credits (PTCs) across CIG’s utility-scale solar, storage, and domestic-manufacturing portfolio.

Sitting at the intersection of CIG’s renewable-development and capital-markets businesses, this role owns the ITC-versus-PTC election strategy and the tax-equity and credit-transfer execution that materially improve project economics and accelerates the company’s 3+ GW pipeline in the post-Inflation Reduction Act market.

As a key player in the team, you’ll have opportunities to grow and be promoted, with supportive leadership and recognition from the owners.

    What you’ll do

Structure and execute tax-equity and tax-credit-transfer transactions (IRA §6418 transferability) for utility-scale solar, solar-plus-storage, and standalone storage, maximizing ITC and PTC value across partnership-flip, sale-leaseback, inverted-lease, and PTC-streaming structures.

Set the ITC-versus-PTC election strategy by project (capital intensity, capacity factor, adder eligibility), and lead quantification of credit value — basis determination and eligible-cost segregation (ITC), output-based credit streaming (PTC), energy-community and domestic-content adders, and prevailing-wage/apprenticeship compliance that unlock the full credit rate.

Own project- and portfolio-level tax-equity models for both ITC and PTC structures (after-tax IRRs, flip dates, PTC streaming, deficit-restoration obligations, 704(b) capital accounts, hypothetical-liquidation/HLBV) and reconcile them to sponsor and investor return targets.

    What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; JD, CPA, or MBA strongly preferred.

10+ years in renewable-energy tax equity, project finance, or transactional tax, with demonstrable lead execution on both ITC and PTC / tax-equity transactions.

Deep command of the Internal Revenue Code as applied to energy credits — §48/§48E ITC, §45/§45Y PTC, §6418 transferability, §6417 elective (direct) pay, and §50 recapture — and of partnership tax (Subchapter K).

    About us

CIG Companies (Carey International Group) is an Orlando, Florida–based, family-office-backed institutional platform that develops, owns, and finances utility-scale solar and renewable energy, U.S.-based solar-module manufacturing, commercial real estate, and private aviation — with a development pipeline of roughly $3.8–4 billion and a stated goal of delivering 20 GW of solar capacity by 2032. A commercial surety and specialty-insurance division complements these business lines.
