    Job Description

    The Position:

    Opportunity exists for an experienced Vice President of Media to lead the strategy, planning and placement of all owned, bartered and paid media across Versant brands. While this role reports to the CMO of CNBC & MSNBC, they will be equally accountable to the CMO of Entertainment & Sports, and the CMO of SportsNext, Fandango, and Rotten Tomatoes.

    This role will lead the team to deliver:

    • Brand Media Planning – all strategic planning, buying, and placement of paid and bartered media.
    • Performance marketing – Paid search, programmatic, social, and affiliate marketing to drive DTC businesses.
    • Scheduling: Planning and placement of all owned media across linear & digital.

    Responsibilities:

    • Drive external media recommendations to fill any perceived gaps/unlock opportunities.
    • Aligning with brand marketing leads and business leaders, plan and place inventory to drive forward all promotional priorities.
    • Responsible for the planning and placement of all linear and digital promotional inventory across all cable brands, including, MSNBC, CNBC, USA, E!, SyFy, Oxygen, and Golf.
    • Responsible for the planning and placement of the digital promotional assets for Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, and SportsNext
    • Serve as primary contact for our external media agencies, setting direction, approving all strategies, placements, and executions.
    • Serve as lead negotiator and planner for all paid and bartered media, negotiating rates, planning and placing all media, and negotiating for any makegoods.
    • Plan and place all media across all owned media (linear and digital) to drive individual and portfolio-wide promotional priorities.
    • Serve as key contact for marketing teams as well as senior Versant leadership.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • At least 15 years’ experience working in a fast-paced media / strategic planning capacity
    • Proven experience leading and directing vendor / agency relationships and defining scope of work, timing, budgets, and timelines
    • Demonstrated understanding of analytics and leveraging data, online behavioral data, social data and 3rd party data Partnerships to build strategically targeted messages

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Well-versed in multiple channels including digital, social, mobile, and direct mail
    • Demonstrated talent for abstract thinking, spotting trends and patterns, an innate curiosity and insight into human behavior, and a nuanced understanding of creative work are critical
    • Strong leadership and negotiating skills
