We are an MGU underwriting property risks for garden-style apartments and condominium associations (Habitational). Our Dallas-based national program is fast-paced and growing. This position is responsible for the oversight, direction, and leadership of a team of underwriters that underwrite the Habitational Program. We are looking for an experienced, organized and diligent leader who can represent the program professionally. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, leadership experience, strategic planning and management skills, as well as the potential and desire to grow with us. Responsibilities: • Oversee, manage, mentor and develop a team of underwriters, ensuring a high-performance culture that emphasizes collaboration, problem solving, accountability and professional growth. • Establish clear performance metrics and foster a results-driven underwriting environment. • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the underwriting team. • Perform peer reviews to ensure compliance with underwriting standards. • Deliver upon departmental objectives and required business outcomes. • Ensure that underwriting standards, guidelines, and procedures are adhered to, balancing profitability and risk exposure. • Monitor and adjust underwriting policies and conditions to respond to market trends and regulatory changes. • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, which may include. Anticipate up to 20% travel. • Represent the company at industry events, conferences and forums to promote the program and enhance our market presence. • Work effectively with other departments, including but not limited to, claims, marketing, accounting, analytics, reinsurance and compliance. • Manage and design necessary procedures and processes for accurate and efficient program management. Qualifications: • 8-10+ years of commercial underwriting property experience • 3+ years of leadership experience Compensation: $135,000 - $170,000 yearly
