  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Vice President of Development and Acquisitions will work closely with the senior leadership team and oversee the sourcing, negotiation, acquisition and development of current and new development opportunities. This role will involve assessing potential growth areas, studying market trends, and conducting detailed land acquisition analysis. In addition, the Vice President of Development and Acquisitions is instrumental in master planning and developing our acquired assets and developments to achieve our financial and operational targets.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Real Estate Development, Planning, Architecture, Business, Finance, Economics or related field strongly preferred

    7-10 years of experience working in positions of increasing responsibility related to land acquisition and development such as land broker, market research, financial analysis, forward planner, real estate development, construction project management, and in a role that involves construction and/or development with knowledge of engineering drawings and setting schedules for development.

    5+ years’ experience in multifamily development

    Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of multifamily apartment development, including site acquisition, due diligence, entitlements, permitting, design, construction, and project management

    Must be able to read, understand, and evaluate civil engineering/development plans

    Experience in developing schedules and budgets and delivery within requirements

    Strong leadership and communication skills are essential

    Experience in contract negotiations

    Understanding of local real estate market and trends

    Familiarity with zoning regulations, building codes and other relevant laws governing multifamily development in the region

    Knowledge of land use approvals for local and state level

    Proven experience in successfully managing large-scale multifamily development projects from inception to construction completion

    Ability to think creatively, anticipate challenges, and propose innovative solutions to complex issues

    Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational abilities

    Proficient in MS Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

    Strong verbal and written communication skills

    Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to ULMS’ mission

    Ability to work independently with limited supervision

    Demonstrates cultural competency

    Ability to build trust quickly

    Ability to work a flexible schedule including late nights and weekends

    ULMS Total Compensation

    ** Most Benefits will take effect on the 1st of the month following a 60-day waiting period
