    Job Description

    The Vice President, Operations, NM Delnor Hospital reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM), adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

    The Vice President, Operations will provide leadership and direction for hospital operations at NM Delnor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, effective development, execution and evaluation of care delivery models and standards of care, as well as continued focus on patient satisfaction, staff engagement and retention, regulatory compliance, fiscal diligence and policies and procedures of assigned areas, consistent with the strategic goals of Northwestern Medicine.

    _ Responsibilities:_

    • Leads hospital operations and provides necessary resources and direction for the delivery and coordination of services across the continuum of care for assigned areas.
    • Works collaboratively and develops strong relationships with local and regional leaders, service line directors, the medical staff, and with system leadership to deliver on NM’s mission, vision and strategic priorities.
    • Monitors and evaluates key areas of performance, such as patient care and service standards, staff competency, patient and employee satisfaction, financial performance and productivity.
    • Establishes practices and identifies opportunities to optimize operational productivity, access, service standards, financial performance, and employee and patient satisfaction by collaborating with medical and other professional staff in routine evaluation.
    • Evaluates operations, policies and processes, identifying opportunities to further advance alignment of clinical operations, "systemness" and cohesion between the geographically dispersed care sites.
    • Ensures NM Delnor meets its long-range strategic plan and annual operating goals.
    • Develops measurable goals and objectives for departments of oversight.
    • Serves as a leader/mentor for staff, administering timely performance evaluations and fostering a work environment that encourages achievement of professional and career goals.
    • Helps all employees make the connection between NM values, their daily work and patient and customer satisfaction. Holds staff accountable for modeling service standards and behaviors.
    • Practices fiscal accountability. Achieves or exceeds budget and business growth and profitability targets.
    • As a member of the executive management team, full participation in and awareness of overall hospital and health system priorities.
    • Assurance of corporate compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
    • Performance of other duties as may from time-to-time be assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    _ Required:_

    • Bachelor’s Degree required.
    • Master’s Degree (M.B.A., M.H.A., M.P.H. or equivalent business degree) preferred.
    • Minimum of seven years of increasingly progressive responsibility in healthcare or human service related organization.
    • The ideal candidate has developed his/her career within a large, complex hospital system environment, ideally with a teaching/academic mission.
    • Senior level management experience outside a hospital/health system may also be considered.
    • Demonstrated success in building and managing a “leading edge,” state-of-the-art department, utilizing innovative programs to improve customer services and satisfaction, quality, financial and operational efficiencies and team engagement.
    • Demonstrated success as a “change agent,” possessing the ability to work effectively with all constituents in order to effect change and impact results.
    • Experience with standardization, utilization and formulary compliance activities
