    Job Description

    As a member of CRB’s Operations Sr. Leadership Team, reporting into the COO, the VP of Regional Operations is responsible for leading a fully integrated matrixed team with direct responsibility over a geographically focused design organization to realize short- and long-term strategic goals, financial objectives, and other key performance indicators. They must communicate and activate the mission and vision of CRB and a Safety-First culture, while exemplifying CRB core values. The VP of Regional Operations skillfully employs finite human and capital resources, setting the stage for the organization to maintain positive employee engagement and high client satisfaction. They will participate in the overall leadership of the company as part of the Operations Leadership Team. This position includes market-facing responsibility, developing relationships with client executives and senior management of partners. The RVP must develop and partner with a strong team of leaders and functional experts to focus on the day-to-day operational activities needed to execute on business-specific strategies and customer solutions to allow them to study the marketplace and position the business for the future.

    • Serve as active member of Operations Leadership Team
    • Engage with peers to secure key clients and profitably execute the regional and Enterprise strategy
    • Execute profit-sharing agreements on cross-regional pursuits and projects
    • Provide input on Enterprise direction and business planning and submit regional sales, revenue, EBBT, and headcount targets to inform Enterprise-level planning and budgeting

    Key Decision Rights

    • Decision rights defined by Signing & Spending Limits policy
    • Final approval on go/no-go pursuits that align with regional strategy/goals and joint accountability for GSO projects
    • Escalation on critical technical and operational issues that require resources beyond region to address and resolve
    • Identification of key regional leaders and building of regional leadership team

    Major Responsibilities

    • Set and maintain a strong safety-focused and CRB value-focused culture by creating a compelling vision for the region, connecting others and their work to that vision, and fostering strong engagement and commitment in others.
    • Drive profitability and client satisfaction monthly through proper project structuring and sound execution, pricing models, business ventures, etc. and in alignment with enterprise strategies and business plans.
    • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the industry, market, client, competitor and other trends and develop, communicate, and execute a strategic direction for the region (e.g., strategies and differentiators, core and key client base, commercial strategies, etc.) that aligns with CRB’s overall strategic direction.
    • Actively manage regional workforce by anticipating, recognizing, and acting when current plans or investments need to change due to market adjustments and to ensure short-term and long-term objectives.
    • Coordinate resource sharing across regions and throughout the organization by maintaining close connection with Office Leaders and a strong understanding of regional human capital capabilities and workload opportunities and constraints.
    • Actively partner with CRB’s national construction team and other matrixed groups to jointly ensure adequate backlog, successful execution, and overall profitability.
    • Build and lead a high-performing regional leadership team and serve as a conduit between regional leadership and Enterprise leadership to facilitate feedback, identify changes and opportunities for improvements, consistency, standardization, best practice sharing, etc.
    • Ensure regional leaders are aware of and held accountable to adherence with company-wide policies and procedures.
    • Ensure regional leaders develop and maintain a robust SD1 program that identifies a steady stream of sales opportunities and revenue and corresponding win strategies and capture plans.
    • Understand and help others understand, the short- and long-term implications of different business models, value propositions and other strategic choices.
    • Make sound business decisions despite ambiguity, uncertainty and short-term pressures.
    • Build strong connections to customers by building an active network, serving as a regional executive to core key clients, and engaging at a Principal level on projects to help the organization anticipate and respond to customer needs especially in growth markets.
    • Actively encourage direct reports to leverage enterprise and cross-region resources to drive better customer and employee experiences, value and satisfaction.
    • Actively identify opportunities to leverage and promote national service businesses to both meet client needs and cultivate the continued growth and success of those business units.
    • Play an active role in the attraction, development and retention of diverse, high caliber talent through active recruiting, consistent engagement with HR Business Partners, and maintaining a strong CRB value-focused culture.

    Key Performance Indicators

    • Safety – incident rate, DART, PSIF, other.
    • Sales – opportunity funnel, delivery of sales target, competitive hit rate, repeat client business.
    • Revenue – design revenue/FTE, construction revenue variation from monthly and yearly targets/forecasts.
    • EBBT – design EBBT/FTE, construction EBBT/FTE and margin, integrated margin.
    • Retention – annual turnover.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Bachelor’s degree required, preferred degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or other closely related and relevant fields.
    • Professional licensure preferred.
    • Demonstrated operational leadership of design and/or construction organization(s) spanning multiple disciplines, clients, and geographies.
    • Proven executive-level client relationships, sustained over time and multiple projects.
    • Track record of promoting teamwork and joint accountability across organizational boundaries and effectively engaging and including diverse people and teams.
    • Strategic agility, ability to set vision and execute even through uncertain situations.
    • Strong business acumen- uses data objectively to make informed and well-reasoned decisions.
    • Able to adapt leadership style to best fit the circumstances, teams or people involved.
    • Readily adapts and remains positive in the face of change, ambiguity and pressure.
    • Pursues continuous learning and conveys clear values and priorities.
    • Understands how to motivate individuals and teams positively through personal example.
