    Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $57,200-$72,100, with an expected starting salary between $57,200-$60,000, based on experience and qualifications.

    Job Summary:

    As a member of the Photography and Video Department, the Video and Audio Editing Specialist I (VA Editing Specialist I) is the ProdDev expert responsible for editing video clips as well as recording and editing audio assets for HK products, marketing materials, and internal HK needs according to project quality, budget, and schedule expectations. They may occasionally participate in local stock, project, or marketing video shoots, in either lead or backup capacity, routinely demonstrating adaptability and teamwork.     Essential Functions

    1. Complete draft and final edits of HK video projects that meet the project's quality expectations.
    2. Prepare acquired video footage for editing in Avid Media Composer (or Adobe Premiere Pro) and EditShare, HK's video editing and storage systems. Assist with organizing HK video and audio archives.
    3. Record, edit, and master audio recordings for HK video and audio products. Recruit and work with internal and external voice talent, when needed. Search for and suggest music selections and sound effects.
    4. Perform audio post-production tasks for all video and audio programs, including working with AI software to create voice-overs when appropriate.
    5. Digitize and encode audio and video for online delivery.
    6. Upload and organize author-provided or freelancer-provided video or audio content for online delivery, ensuring content meets project requirements and HK product delivery formats.
    7. Carefully review the work submitted by freelancers or vendor partners and provide any necessary feedback about audio and video quality and format. Ensure submitted files meet the project's contract requirements before approving invoices for payment.
    8. Work with third-party service providers to add captions, translated captions, audio descriptions, and other accessibility features to HK video products. Review accessibility components for clarity and correspond with third-party providers for corrections.
    9. Act as production assistant on local video shoots when needed, such as teleprompter operation and alignment of video with a digital clapperboard app.
    10. Contribute to HK's profitability by working productively and ensuring video and audio budgets and schedules are met. Suggest improvements to video and audio processes or systems to increase efficiency and promote innovation.

    Secondary Functions

    1. Work with Marketing Managers and Marketing Graphic Designers to develop and produce marketing video content for HK products as assigned.
    2. When necessary, adapt book manuscript text to a more concise and conversational form for use as video scripts.
    3. Work with Photography & Video department teammates to plan and capture stock video footage at regional, local, or onsite shoots, with the goal of adding diverse video to HK stock on a regular basis.
    4. Act as lead video camera operator for local shoots when the Video Producer Photographer is unavailable. Act as a second video camera operator for local shoots when needed.
    5. May assist with local talent acquisition and location scouting for photo/video shoots.
    6. May assist at location shoots that require travel.
    7. May represent the Photography & Video department in HK task forces.

    Job Qualifications

    Required Education:

    Bachelor's or 2-year degree, preferably in digital journalism, media production, mass communication, or related field. Relevant work experience in video/audio editing may be considered in lieu of a degree.

    Shoot-related travel requires a valid driver's license and a Real ID for domestic travel.

    Required Experience:

    3+ years' experience in video/audio production.

    3+ years' experience with Adobe Premiere Pro.

    Portfolio highlighting finished audio and video clips.

    Experience working within a team environment.

    Experience with video and audio field recording equipment and procedures.

    Experience with studio lighting equipment.

    Experience with digital audio workstations.

    Experience with audio recording equipment and audio mixing board.

    Experience with video and audio encoding software.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office or comparable word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.

    Preferred Experience:

    Experience with AVID Media Composer.

    Experience with online delivery systems and video storage systems (such as Brightcove, Vimeo, and EditShare).

    Experience with Presonus digital audio workstations.

    Knowledge of AI tools and how to apply them ethically.

    Experience with digital asset management systems or content management systems.

    Knowledge of web accessibility standards for video and audio.
