  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL SUMMARY

    Operates all satellite equipment, sells racing items (such as racing form, digests, and handicap sheets), posts race results, and responds to guests inquiries regarding results lines.

     

    CORE SCOPE OF POSITION

    • Operates all satellite equipment and television monitors dedicated to horse racing in the OTB area, ensuring the correct channels are on. Adjusts all IRDs and satellite equipment when necessary

    • Sells all racing items, including racing forms, racing digests, and handicap sheets. Keeps an accurate account of OTB Bank and all merchandise sold. 

    • Posts all results from respective race tracks on OTB Results Board.  

    • Responds to guest questions via phone or in person regarding game results. 

    • Builds and maintains relationships with new, regular, and frequent guests in order to cultivate and encourage repeat visits.

    • Trains all departmental team members in the satellite equipment operations as needed. 

    • Attends all required classes and meetings. 

    • Protects company assets and reports any fraudulent activity to Surveillance Department and Management. 

    • Complies with and follows company and departmental policies and standard operating procedures, and any applicable governmental laws and regulations. 

    • Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained. 

    • Performs all other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or the equivalent in education/experience.

     

    EXPERIENCE

    • 0 to 2 years of related experience.

    • Cash register and cash handling experience.

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    • Excellent guest/interpersonal communication skills.

    • Good written and verbal communication skills.

    • Must be motivated and sales oriented.

    • Knowledge of satellite equipment preferred.

    • Knowledge of computer systems.

    • Ability to maintain accurate records.

    • Ability to multi-task, work in a fast paced, high stress environment.

    • Must be a self-starter, punctual and able to adjust to change.

    • Must be flexible to work different shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.

     

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Must be 21 years of age or older.
    • Must have 6+ months of cash handling experience.
