About the company: Viking Blade Supply is a Veteran owned and operated small business that is expanding quickly. We specialize in knives, swords, axes, and other goods that are hand forged with Damascus, stainless steel, and other metals. We also teach knife making classes. (We are also looking for someone interested in learning to make knives.) While we accept all applicants and are EOE, we do have a strong preference for other fellow Veterans. (We will choose the most qualified person for the position regardless.)
About the position: It is a sales retail position where you greet people and use a register. However, we require you to fully know our products and be able to explain everything about each item to a potential customer. No prior experience is necessary. A formal resume isn't necessary but it is a plus; but please do have references and previous positions held listed. A criminal record does not exclude you from being a candidate, but honesty is required. We do do background checks, but disclosing any past discretions first will be in your favor.
The right candidate's first week of employment is to be a paid training. After the initial training is finished, a knowledge test will be verbally given. This is an important part of the position and will determine your future and success within our business. There will be a trial period of one month to gauge if you're the correct fit for our company.
Responsibilities: -Know the metals used by sight/feel -Know the handle materials by sight/feel -Learn the register and check out methods -Record sales as they occur -Light cleaning to ensure the store is presentable -Maintain a professional demeanor while on the clock -Maintain professional relationships with managers and owners -Keep work areas organized
Requirements: -Must have reliable transportation (Valid Driver's license and own vehicle preferred) -Must have a reliable point of contact -Must be punctual -Must be reliable -Must be available evenings and weekends; some early morning meetings -Must be willing to travel over night/weekends (for trade shows) occasionally -Must retain knowledge -Must thrive in a sometimes fast paced and stressful environment -Must be able to physically lift 25lbs regularly
