    In general, the position is an office position with occasional field and shop visits over short duration. Most of the inspections are through third party contracts where the QA/QC manager will assist in selecting appropriate personnel and reviewing the provided inspection reports to the job requirements and standards.

    Direct/Contract: Contract to permanent (3 month contract then he/she will come onboard as a permanent employee). 

    Description: QA/QC Manager

    Requirements: Your resume must reflect the requirements listed below.

    • ASME IX welding, API 936 Refractory Installation Quality Control highly preferred.
    • ISO and ASME quality procedure experience required.
    • Looking for someone to oversee company quality documentation, while reviewing vendor procedures and coordinating inspectors. 
    • A minimum of 5 years of recent experience is required. This includes previous and/or current roles such as QA/QC Manager, Coordinator, Supervisor, Lead.
    • Inspector will travel to customer/project sites as needed. You'll work in the Houston office a majority of time.
    • Ability to communicate via email with customers and other offices (Outlook).

    Location: Energy Corridor (Must reside within daily driving distance).

    Due to the intake volume, only those who qualify will be contacted.

    Schedule: Working schedules are 9-80, 9 hrs/ day with one Friday being 8 hours and the next Friday off. Time is flexible and based on a starting time between 6 am and 8:30 am.

    Estimated Salary/Hourly Rate:

    • $100-$140K/year range for 5-10 years of experience
    • $105K-$125K for 10-20 years
    • $120K-$140K for 20+ years

    Summary/Objective 

    The quality control manager develops, implements and manages quality assurance and quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production of advanced composite materials and applications consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals.

    Quality Control Essential Functions

    • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
    • Coordinate third-party inspection with vendor fabrication shops.
    • Supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
    • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
    • Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams.
    • Knowledge of ASME pressure part and structural steel welding as well as refractory application.
    • Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
    • Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
    • Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
    • Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within company.
    • Provide, and oversee, inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
    • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
    • Interact and maintain professional relationships with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts.
    • Create and direct environmental test functions and applications.
    • Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement teams.
    • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs.
    • Oversee implementation of quality control training programs.
    • Identify potential issues, address issues and provide tangible solutions to prevent future issues. 
    • Address any safety issue immediately.
    • Lead by example, communicate with team, promote a team environment and safe workplace.

    Quality Control Essential Functions

    • Perform internal audits.
    • Perform shop surveys on current and potential vendor fabrication shops.
    • Address nonconformities from previous internal and external audits.
    • Conduct a management review of the quality system.
    • Follow-up on and close pending preventive and corrective action requests.
    • Prepare organization for ISO 9001 audit.
    • Ensure documentation and design controls are appropriate for organization.
    • Administer document control and configuration management system.
    • Oversee established calibration and testing program.
    • Assist the management team and provide QA support as necessary.
    • Maintain design history file.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

    Work Environment
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

    This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
