ALL APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must possess a valid driver's license
2. Be a United States citizen/or alien admitted for permanent residence or lawfully admitted for temporary residence and who produces evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States.
3. Meet the age requirements set forth in Illinois State Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6, (upon appointment be 21 years of age or older and have not reached their 35th birthday, unless statutory exemptions are met.)
4. Possess high school diploma or equivalent
5. Possess no record of felony conviction or crime of moral turpitude.

**PREFERENCE POINTS FOR MILITARY EXPERIENCE OR EDUCATION:
**
Persons who were engaged in the military or naval service of the United States for at least one year, and were honorably discharged, -or- who are now, or may hereafter be on inactive or reserve duty in such military or naval service. A copy of Form DD-214 or equivalent proof of current military service must be submitted with application to qualify (5 points). Persons who have successfully obtained an Associate's Degree in the field of law enforcement or criminal justice -or- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university will receive 5 points. A copy of unofficial transcripts must be submitted with application to qualify.

POLICE OFFICER – The police officer is under regular supervision, performs basic police services in accordance with the mission, goals and objectives of the Johnsburg Police Department and in compliance with governing federal, state and local laws and rules. The person assigned to this position will also maintain proficiency for the rank assigned as listed in the job description of this rank. Salary is established in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Village of Johnsburg and the Metropolitan Alliance of Police, Johnsburg Chapter 432.
