We are seeking a Head of Chemistry to build a high throughput macrocycle synthesis team to synthesize and evaluate molecules designed from Vilya’s novel platform of structured macrocycles. These teams will work closely with the computational team to develop drug-like molecules and therefore, you will be an integral part of Vilya. This position collaborates closely with the rest of the computational, assay, and business teams to lead decision making toward the identification of therapeutic molecules with the highest likelihood of success in the clinic.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• COLLABORATE with multi-disciplinary teams in the synthesis and development of macrocyclic molecules with potency, selectivity, and in vivo stability.

• IMPLEMENT  through the synthesis of  subsets of compounds from computational predictions.

• ANALYZE data from experimental and computational assays to improve methodology and drug likeness throughout the Vilya therapeutic discovery platform.

• INNOVATE Vilya’s computational design platform by building state-of-art HTC chemistry and testing predicted compounds for validation. Be a major contributor to the iterative design and development of drug candidates.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry with 10+ years of experience and a proven track record of medicinal chemistry expertise in the synthesis of successful drug like molecules in a drug discovery environment. 

• Intimate knowledge and experience in state of the art instrumentation and building high throughput chemistry capabilities, knowledge and implementation of solid phase techniques.

• Proven track record working in a multi-disciplinary environment including close interactions with computational teams, DMPK, tox, biology teams. 

• Experience with  building/leading/mentoring chemistry teams. 

• Significant knowledge and success in aspects of drug discovery including optimizing molecules for ADME, tox, drug-like properties

• Experience with the synthesis of macrocycles 

• Track record of directly impacting the discovery and development of high quality hits, leads, and/or clinical assets using structure-based computational methodologies.

• Adept at working collaboratively on teams in a multi-disciplinary drug discovery environment.
