    The Position: As Foundation Design Manager, you will manage a small internal team of 1-2 foundation design experts, as well as a foundation design contract and a foundation certification contract. You will be responsible for leading the design and certification of +60 offshore wind turbine foundations, and managing the design interface towards the foundation fabrication and foundation installation contractors, as well as the design interfaces towards WTGs, cables, and O&M. The foundations are large and complex structures with huge business impact. As Foundation Design Manager you will be given the unique opportunity to follow the project through the different stages of development such as design, certification, fabrication, and installation. You will be in charge of managing the foundation design contract to ensure the design is state of the art and top quality, delivered on time and within budget.

    • Manage and follow up on the design performed by an external engineering consultant, including facilitating meetings, workshops, reviewing documents, etc. 
    • Ensure the necessary input from internal project stakeholders are received in due time (such as our WTG team, IAC team, permit team, O&M team, etc.) and are integrated into the design
    • Participate in meetings to clarify design interfaces to our fabrication and installation contractors 
    • Follow-up on our external certification body and facilitate the interface to our design contract 
    • Follow-up on TQs and NCRs from fabrication and installation contractors
    • Be present on-site (Europe and US) for First Article Inspections (FAI), mock-up tests, as well as load-out and installation of the first positions in order to ensure execution is according to design requirements and specifications 

    In addition, you will be responsible for informing the Foundation Package Manager of all significant technical issues, particularly risks; developing contingency plans, managing changes, and collecting lessons learned.  

    The Requirements: The right candidate will have a Master of Science degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience, preferably in offshore wind. Previous experience with Offshore WTG Foundation Design Management and Certification is a plus, with solid skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This person should have good people skills and a structured work approach. 

    The Location: Vineyard Wind is based in New Bedford, MA, with offices in Boston, MA.
