    A little bit about the company and the projects:

    Vineyard Offshore brings industry-leading experience to the emerging US-based offshore wind market. Owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), half of the joint venture behind the Vineyard Wind 1 project, Vineyard Offshore is focused on developing projects that will deliver clean, renewable, and cost-effective offshore wind power around North America. In addition to Vineyard Wind 1, Vineyard Offshore currently holds two additional US lease areas that together can generate at least 3.5 gigawatts of offshore wind energy to power a minimum of two million homes along the mid-Atlantic and northeastern seaboards.

    What you’ll do:

    The Fisheries Liaison will be an integral part of the development team and will primarily be responsible for developing and delivering our New England fisheries program. This program includes a range of components, such as outreach, communication strategy engagement, project planning, workforce development, and fisheries science.  

    Primary job duties include the following:  

    • ensuring effective communication and good working relations across all relevant fishermen, fishing communities, organizations, sectors, regions/ports, and gear types,
    • revising fisheries communication plans and protocols based on lessons learned and fishermen’s feedback
    • identifying potentially affected fisheries and working with these stakeholders to better understand their concerns, identify potential impacts, and arrive at workable solutions
    • managing a network of Fisheries Representatives, Offshore/Onboard Fisheries Liaisons, and fishermen guard and scout vessels
    • maintaining a fishery stakeholder database and contacts list
    • meeting with fishermen in person, via email or social media, and by phone during and outside of regular business hours, and following up on fishermen’s concerns
    • assisting with the coordination of fisheries surveys and science work undertaken by or on behalf of Vineyard Offshore
    • identifying opportunities to integrate interested fishermen into offshore project work, developing programs and mitigation measures that are responsive to fishermen’s concerns, and supporting the continued health and vitality of the region’s fisheries.
    • participating in outreach events focused on fishing communities and assisting in the creation of outreach materials targeting fishing communities
    • assisting with social media and website design and upkeep.

    What you’ll bring:

    The Fisheries Liaison is a mid- to senior-level position that will report to the Fisheries Manager.

    To succeed in this role, you will have the following:

    • a bachelor’s degree or higher within the field of fisheries science/management or policy or a relevant field from an accredited program
    • a minimum of five years of relevant work experience and an in-depth understanding of the fishing industry, practices, interests, and issues along the northeast Atlantic coast
    • an understanding of fisheries management/policy across a range of commercial and recreational fisheries
    • relevant experience working directly, and building strong relationships, with fishers/fisheries stakeholder groups, including working with fishermen, fishing organizations, and state agencies in Massachusetts
    • GIS, Excel data analysis, and PowerPoint presentation experience
