We are looking for a "workhorse" Virtual Tax Specialist for a high-volume, remote contract position. This role is strictly focused on the efficient production and filing of tax returns. Job Responsibilities
Prepare and file complex federal and state income tax returns (e.g., 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065) with a high level of accuracy.
Manage a large volume of primarily business tax returns (some individual tax returns)
Using Drake Tax Software manage a "churn and burn" workflow across the following forms:
1040: Individual returns (high volume).
1065: Partnership returns.
1120 & 1120-S: C-Corp and S-Corp returns.
990: Non-Profit returns.
Multi-State/Complex: Experience with multi-state filings and complex entity structures is a significant plus.
Provide daily/weekly status updates on your queue.
Proactively flag missing documentation or "blockers" to leadership immediately.
Stay current on the latest IRS regulations and state-specific tax laws to ensure 100% compliance and avoid penalties.
Utilize secure, cloud-based portals and tax software to maintain organized, confidential client files.
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on, high volume business and individual tax preparation experience
Active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) required.
Highly proficient with Drake Tax Software and MS Excel.
Have a secure, private home office setup with high-speed internet and experience using virtual tools (Zoom, Slack, Secure Portals).
Proven track record of handling a large volume of tax returns.
Possess the availability and high capacity necessary during the core tax season (January - April).
Able to spot inconsistencies in financial data and maintain high standards of accuracy under tight deadlines.
Possess a highly communicative approach to staying in sync with account managers about progress and status of tax returns.
