ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST 

Great Lakes Essential Power is seeking a reliable and task-oriented Accounting Specialist. This individual is enthusiastic, data-driven, and desires to work in a fast-growing company with a goal-driven environment. With a keen ability to learn and master new programs and concepts quickly, this person upholds a strict level of confidentiality and can organize, prioritize, and accomplish tasks efficiently and effectively and a fast-paced environment. As a key part of the role, this individual utilizes spreadsheets, accounting software, and other productivity tools with ease.

Great Lakes Essential Power, Inc (GLEP) is an Electrical Manufacturer’s Representative for multiple lines but primarily GE & ABB Industrial Solutions based in Madison Heights, MI. Our target customers include distributors, end users, electrical contractors, OEMs and utilities. 

JOB DEFINITION 

The Accounting Specialist will help plan, perform, and manage a broad range of accounting, financial, and budgetary functions. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, professional, and capable of managing their workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment. 

The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: 

• Oversee accounts receivable/accounts payable
• Reconcile commission, expenditure, and investments
• Manage payroll in collaboration with payroll administrator
• Maintaining financial records and accounting transactions
• Maintaining the company’s accounting / finance software and systems
• Automating and systemizing accounting functions in one tool
• Managing and maintaining accurate data and upkeep of company financial dashboards, providing clarity into financial health of business
• Working with management on budgeting and forecasting, including generating reports regarding the financial health and strategies of the company
• Maintaining an organized office including filing systems, office supplies, and inventory control
• Assisting with managing and upkeeping company’s systems and files
• Assisting with office management tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

• 3+ years’ accounting experience
• 1+ year financial reporting experience
• Experience working with Excel 
• Experience working with an ERP system
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• 2-year degree in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, or other related fields

PREFERRED

• 3+ years’ financial reporting experience
• 1+ year data analysis experience
• Experience working with QuickBooks online
• 4-year degree in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, or other related fields

Salary range: $50k-$58k
