Our mission is to promote Dallas as the ideal business and leisure destination to the regional, national, and international marketplace, and to favorably impact the Dallas economy through conventions and tourism.

    Our efforts have significantly increased awareness of Dallas locally, nationally, and internationally, and have resulted in Dallas being recognized as one of the top convention destinations in the nation and the number one visitor destination in the state of Texas.

    SCOPE

    To solicit accounts to convene meetings, conventions and tradeshows in Dallas. Coordinate meeting activities with hotels, other Dallas convention facilities, and VisitDallas member suppliers. The employee works closely with the local hospitality industry and hotel partners to contract and coordinate conventions and ensure efficient meeting arrangements for the attendees. Additionally, conducts research to identify potential clients; prepares and presents bids for meetings and conventions; coordinating promotional materials; attends appropriate industry related conventions and tradeshows to generate leads and increase exposure. Developing and maintaining professional relationships are critical, therefore, it is imperative that this position play an active role in industry organizations and events in specific market segment based on travel into the assigned market areas. Responsible for initiating frequent contact with decision makers for conventions, conferences and trade shows. This position will function within the boundaries as set by the Sales & Services division leadership.

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (individual duties, assignments, and responsibilities required of the position)

    A. This position will concentrate on large citywide and when appropriate in-house groups for the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas and/or hotels depending on market. Responsible for all stages of lead and booking process

    B. Achieve quarterly/annual definite room night goal that contributes to the overall convention sales team room night goal

    C. Coordinate special customer events for the promotion of Dallas

    D. Coordinate & execute fam trips to Dallas for clients in our market segment

    E. Coordinate and execute sales blitzes for clients in our market segment

    F. Solicitation of primary, national associations and any organizations requiring large in-house or multi-hotel room usage and exhibit facilities. Maintain an active log of prospective/tentative activity reflecting future potential business

    G. Develop and manage a strategic marketing plan focused on individual market segment

    H. Understanding city competition and changing marketing trends that affect convention business

    I. Maintain a working knowledge of VisitDallas, Dallas hospitality community, and city developments that would contribute to sales process for future convention business

    J. Attend sales meetings, training programs and other required meetings

    K. Maintain account base and customer files through CRM

    L. Emphasize solicitation to distressed period business, as well as other mid-size groups capable of being scheduled around city-wide conventions with a special emphasis on Convention Center business or large in-house hotel bookings. Maintain account and meeting qualification activity on a daily basis. Maintain complete documentation within the electronic database system (CRM)

    M. To represent VisitDallas at all appropriate industry organizations events/meetings and attend other national industry meetings/events/tradeshows as determined by leadership

    N. Undertake special projects as assigned by leadership

    O. Function as a liaison with the Dallas hotel community and specific national hotel sales offices to partner in selling and marketing Dallas as a convention and meeting destination

    P. Function as a liaison with the VisitDallas Experience Department, VisitDallas Member Suppliers, to ensure that all meetings receive the best service possible

    Q. Schedule outside sales appointments and entertain clients as necessary to your market to ensure Dallas’ continual interest in the clients’ business

    R. Responsible for scheduling & executing all client site inspections relative to our specific markets

    S. Effectively manage individual budget guidelines and submit accurate and timely pre- expense approval forms, cash and Visa expense reports, and consistently maintain an accurate individual budget worksheet

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: (special training, certifications, college degree, etc.)

    · High school Education, Bachelor’s Degree preferred

    · Minimum of seven years of hospitality industry sales experience in a major convention facility, convention hotel or DMO major market with a strong focus on the California/West Coast market.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (technical, communication, interpersonal, etc.)

    · MUST have extensive experience and knowledge of the West Coast Market (speficially California) with demonstrated sales results

    · Effective and able communicator

    · Understand the methods, procedures and techniques of VisitDallas.

    · High degree of computer knowledge, general office skills, time management skills and accounting.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: (overtime, travel, physical demands, and conditions)
