    Job Title: Network and Systems Engineer

    Location: Detroit, MI / Hybrid.

    The Network and Systems Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for computer hardware and software applications, as well as lead contact and administrator of off-site storage to support IS disaster recovery services.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Establishes baseline and standards for Server Infrastructure.
    • Leads collaboration with vendors, departments, customers and staff in support of IT projects.
    • Oversees and establishes quality control procedures to ensure that systems are efficient and operational.
    • Provides general supervision to System Administrators and the Desktop Support staff.
    • Manages and maintains server support including diagnosis and troubleshooting.
    • Assesses and defines system requirements.
    • Analyzes network data and infrastructure to determine inefficiencies and problems.
    • Leads development and design of network architecture and computer systems infrastructure.
    • Oversees the management and administration of computer systems.
    • Troubleshoots technical issues and develops effective solutions.
    • Prepares network analytics, data reports, and operational manuals.
    • Trains the engineering team on new systems, protocols, and best practices.
    • Identifies and troubleshoots network connectivity issues for local area and wide area network (LAN/WAN/WIFI/VPN) and related systems.
    • Resolves technical issues with networks, hardware, and software.
    • Performs speed and security tests on installed networks.
    • Oversees upgrading/replacing hardware and software systems when required.
    • Implements, manages, maintains, and performs data backup and disaster recovery operations.
    • Implements, manages, and maintains enterprise endpoint protection and email security protection systems.
    • Implements, manages, and maintains group policy, including access control, drive mapping, and HIPAA security requirements.
    • Implements, manages, maintains, and administers document management systems (Therefore, One Drive, SharePoint).
    • Manages and maintains network monitoring systems to ensure security of data, users, and administrative access privileges.
    • Analyzes benchmarks, network logs, and performance measures to optimize availability of network resources and bandwidth to support normal and surge workloads.
    • Manages and maintains the building security system and IP video surveillance system.
    • Assists in the planning and coordination of hardware and software purchases, services, and support.

     

    KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, IT Hardware and Software applications, Networks, Servers, Disaster Recovery, Security, Cloud Applications
    • Experience in Computer Network set-up, automated phone systems, printers, is a necessity
    • Experience quoting, purchasing, costs and budgets.

     

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Information Technology or a related field.
    • Cisco CCNP, CCNA certification and/or MCSA, MCSE, or MCP certification, preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in the following areas: Advanced knowledge of networking (LAN/WAN), configuration of Cisco switches, firewalls, routers, telecommunications (VoIP), VLAN, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and site to site VPN connections.
    • Experience in a Microsoft environment, including Azure, Office 365, Microsoft Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 and Windows 10.
    • Experience with VMWare and/or Hyper V virtualized environment.
