Controller
Salary: $90 - $120K

My client is a Santa Cruz County family-run grocery, committed to supporting other local merchants, the community, and its customers. Along with this business they provider catering to emergency service works at base camps during natural disasters.

They are adding a Controller to their team to provide accounting oversight and analysis for all their operations. This includes A/R, A/P, Cost Accounting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis. You will have 2 clerks reporting to you that handle the day-to-day accounting tasks. While this has oversight and management responsibilities, you may need to roll up your sleeves to assist the team. This is a highly collaborative environment.

You will own:

• Maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Designing and Implementing a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Overseeing the production of periodic financial and accounting reports (payroll, cost accounting, budgets) and forecasts (weekly, quarterly, annual), adhering to GAAP
• Recommending benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
• Produces payroll and cost accounting reports to management on a weekly basis or as requested by management.
• Working with external accountants and provides needed information for tax preparation.
• Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – you are a collaborator who works well in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment
• Advanced Excel skills – you know Excel and the more advanced and complicated functions
• Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Strong analytical and forecasting skills
