    Medical Office Receptionist/Medical Assistant Job Purpose: Serve patients by greeting and helping them; scheduling appointments; maintaining records and accounts.Assists medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician/physician assistant and office management.

    Medical Office Receptionist Job Duties:

    · Greet and process patients arriving to the office. Enter demographic and insurance information into Medent/update information in Medent including physician information/allergies/surgeries since last visit etc., collect co-pays, and properly enter monetary transactions into Medent, print receipts from Medent, process credit card transactions and know how to verify insurance.

    · Greet and process patients leaving the office. Schedule office appointments, coordinate with imaging when applicable, provide return visit information w/an appointment card showing time of arrival (include imaging when applicable).

    · Fully understand protocols for documenting and following up on “No Show”, “Cancellation” and “No Appointment Scheduled” appointments.

    · End of day properly Cash-Out, Print Reports, Reconcile Payments and File.

    Verify patient’s insurance information, enter into EMR.

    Obtain physician referrals when and if necessary.

    Collect co-pays, enter into EMR, reconcile day sheet.

    Update demographic and physician information in EMR, every visit.

    Call and confirm appointments, document means of confirmation.

    Forward patient records.

    Type, mail and follow-up on all recall letters.

    Scan and route documents into EMR, daily-includes FAX queue.

    Scan and route “Health History Forms,” only - daily.

    Schedule and Coordinate Interpreter and DAS Services adhering to Practice Policies.

    Generate and print x-ray scripts.

    Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.

    Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.

    Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.

    Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.

    Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.

    Medical Assistant Job Duties:

    · Interview patients to obtain medical information, measure: blood pressure (must be proficient in manual and automatic blood pressures), weight, and height.

    · Record patients' personal medical history, family medical history, vital statistics, LMP, medications, and allergies in electronic medical records.

    · Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the Physician/Physician Assistant.

    · Upload CD IMAGES onto computer for Provider viewing.

    · Collect CD(s) return to patient. If patient is: scheduled for an in-office biopsy place CD(s) on designated shelf, scheduling surgery – give radiographs/CD(s) to surgical scheduler and return to patient at post operative appointment.

    · Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean throughout the day. End of day remove trash bags from containers that are full, replace with clean bag. Weekly and/or when necessary, only clean hazardous waste containers and prepare for pick-up.

    · Inventory medical supplies for procurement.

    · Provide prescription information for surgical bra’s, garments and prosthesis.

    · Assist in dressing changes and drain removal.

    · Explain treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patients.

    · Operate equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests. i.e. L-Dex

    · Set-up Procedure Room & Ultrasound Core Biopsy Equipment in preparation for procedure.

    · Help physicians treat patients, handing them instruments and materials for performing core biopsies and/or other procedures.

    · Collect samples (cytology/pathology), log the specimens, complete paperwork and prepare them for testing/pick-up.

    · Know the policies & procedure (s) for proper implementation of information into Medent for pathology/cytology reporting for X-cell Laboratories.

    · Clean instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

    · Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or office appointments.

    · Assist with Genetic Counseling/Genetic Testing.

    · Assist with FU15/FU30 pre-surgical appointments.

    · Assist with Surgery Scheduling Duties (if and only when Surgery Scheduler is unavailable).

    · Post-Operative Phone Calls.
