    We are looking for a skilled resource in a remote position for someone in the Eastern / Central time zone to perform Linux system administration support within our company. The Linux SysAdmin will support customers and internal programming teams in developing custom business applications, new client projects, and provide legacy troubleshooting and support of existing applications. The Linux SysAdmin will work within the Linux OS supporting applications and databases (MySQL, MS-SQL, and PostGREs) and should have a deep understanding of administrating these environments. Typical tasks include setting up new Linux server configurations, troubleshooting existing configurations, and assisting customers in server-related issues.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Deploy, configure, and administer dedicated and virtual-private-server environments (Linode, Amazon, Rackspace, etc.)
    • Troubleshoot performance and configuration issues on all servers
    • Perform operating system upgrades and security patches
    • Provide technical support to internal development teams
    • Perform periodic server maintenance to ensure high customer satisfaction
    • Install SSL Certificates
    • Manage DNS
    • Manage User accounts for front and backend access to web servers
    • Provide (call-in) customer support for customers who have issues with their applications

    IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BS/BA in Computer Science or other IT related degree
    • Someone in the Eastern or Central time zone.
    • Experience with Linux Systems Administration (required)
    • Experience with PHP programming language including major development frameworks (e.g. YII, Laravel, preferred)
    • Experience with software version control (GIT, required)
    • Security requirements for databases, developing, documenting, and implementing backup and recovery procedures (required) 
    • Experience with configuration, management related to the operation of complex relational databases 
    • Willingness to take on new challenges and environments 
    • Understanding and ability to work under established configuration management practices and policies 
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan workload and meet established deadlines. 
    • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills
