    Job Description

    A Purchasing Agent experienced in construction will be responsible for ensuring specific materials needed are available to the manufacturing team in a timely manner and within set financial parameters.  The associate will understand how to read blueprints and extract information.  They will be able to creates matrices or spreadsheets from plans to ensure that all needed materials are accounted for in the Plan Readiness Document.  Initiative, flexibility, transparency, and a positive attitude are desirable candidate attributes.

    • Starting with blueprints or plan documents, verify all needed materials are noted on the Bill of Materials
    • Create matrices or spreadsheets comparing items and counts with the blueprints or plans.  Or if blueprints or plans are not available, use the created documents to create a purchasing plan
    • Compare items needed to known long lead time items to prioritize which items need immediate attention.
    • Compare specifications with inventoried items to determine if current and future inventory quantities are sufficient
    • Maintain & file vendor quotes, agreements & contracts
    • Perform bid analysis using Bid Comparison tools
    • Respond to all purchase requests timely
    • Create and issue purchase orders
    • Follow purchasing hierarchy and department rules
    • Work with inventory control to ensure that inventoried material levels are kept
    • As needed, search, research and follow new vendor onboarding procedures
    • Track & update Job Readiness documents and programs accurately
    • Update purchase orders and expected deliveries in ERP system in a timely manner
    • Create inventory shortage reports
    • Resolve disputes with vendors concerning timely delivery, quantity discrepancies and quality issues
    • Participate in SCAPA (Supplier Corrective and Preventative Action) situations
    • Participate in vendor scorecard process
    • Participate in quarterly, semi-annual, or annual supplier reviews

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience purchasing for the construction trade
    • Experience purchasing within an ERP system (SAP preferred)
    • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
    • MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint experience
    • Experience working in an ISO or similar environment preferred
    • Excellent math skills
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
    • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
    • Flexibility to work in a changing environment with a growing company
