    SUMMARY The Volunteer Associate is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, onboarding, scheduling, engagement, and support of volunteers across the organization. Working under the direction of the Volunteer Manager, this position ensures volunteers have a positive experience while supporting efficient execution of volunteer programs and activities. This role is highly relationship-focused and execution-oriented. Success is measured through volunteer satisfaction, retention, responsiveness, operational excellence, and consistent program delivery. This role operates in alignment with CFRE competencies and the AFP Code of Ethical Standards, with emphasis on volunteer engagement, stewardship, relationship management, and ethical practice.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Volunteer Recruitment, Onboarding, Coordination and Engagement • Support volunteer recruitment efforts through information sessions, outreach activities, and referrals. • Coordinate volunteer applications, screening, orientation, and onboarding processes. • Assist with volunteer placement based on organizational needs and volunteer interests. • Coordinate volunteer schedules to support programs, events, initiatives, and resale operations. • Build positive relationships with volunteers and create a welcoming environment. • Support volunteer recognition and appreciation activities. • Respond to questions, concerns, and requests in a timely manner with upmost professionalism. • Initiate consistent follow-up throughout the entire volunteer experience.

    Program Support • Coordinate volunteer involvement for events, supply drives, assembly projects, and community activities. • Assist with logistics, communications, and volunteer preparation for shifts. • Coordinate with program areas to ensure volunteers have the training, information, and resources necessary for success. • Support execution of recurring volunteer activities and service opportunities.

    Resale Shop Volunteer Coordination • Coordinate individual and group volunteers supporting resale operations. • Work with resale leadership to align volunteer assignments with operational needs. • Maintain consistent communication for volunteer coverage and scheduling.

    Data and Administrative Support • Maintain accurate volunteer records in Bloomerang CRM and Bloomerang Volunteer platforms. • Track volunteer participation, onboarding completion, engagement, and retention activities. • Assist with reporting and volunteer communications to promote open and/or new shifts/roles. • Prepare volunteer packets, orientation materials, and other volunteer resources as needed. • Maintain confidentiality of volunteer information and comply with organizational policies and procedures.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work collaboratively with staff across multiple departments and locations. • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve volunteer processes and experience. • Communicate volunteer needs, opportunities, and concerns to the Volunteer Manager. • Help ensure alignment between volunteer activities and organizational priorities.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Associate's degree required, bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Two or more years of experience coordinating volunteers, events, customer service, community engagement, or related work.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES • Proficiency in Bloomerang CRM and Bloomerang Fundraising a plus • Knowledge of Monday.com or similar task management platforms a plus • Familiarity with the Benevon Sustainable Fundraising Model a plus • Working knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Teams • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
