    Job Description

    Vorbeck’s goal is to enable the next generation of communications and sensing devices for first responders, industrial workers, and the military. Our technology combines traditional “hard” electronics with flexible, printed, “soft” electronics. Many of our systems are based on graphene printed electronics, which are thin, light-weight, extremely flexible, and mechanically and environmentally robust. 

    Vorbeck manufactures its own materials (Vor-x®), conductive inks (Vor-ink™), electronic components, and complete wearable-electronic systems. The collaboration between in-house materials-science/chemistry teams, electrical & mechanical engineers, and soft goods designers, allows us to rapidly develop simple, efficient, and high-performing products … and keeps the work fun.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    ●     Assist the design and develop new wearable products based on project to project basis.

    ●     Pattern, construct and alter prototypes in a timely manner.

    ●     Create finalized digital patterns and technical drawings using the Adobe Suite.

    ●     Work with the team on all aspects of full time production using technical skills to complete product construction to the highest standards.

    ●     Uphold lab safety standards, ensuring work space cleanliness.

    ●     Communicate with the team on needs such as inventory, construction comments, etc.

    ●     Work efficiently to ensure projects are done on time and deadlines are met.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    ●     College degree (B.S. or B.A.) or 2-5 years experience in fashion/costume design, garment construction/manufacturing, patternmaking, wearable electronics or a related field.

    ●     Experience stitching with various textiles (performance knits, wovens, etc.).

    ●     Knowledge of non-textile materials (seam sealers, adhesives, films, foam, etc.) (Experience with is a plus).

    ●     Working knowledge of fabric properties and standard garment construction terminology.

    ●     Basic patternmaking experience.

    ●     Demonstrated knowledge of sewing with both household and industrial equipment. Industrial sewing machine and serging experience preferred, but not required.

    ●     Quality skills in hardware integration and finishing skills.

    ●     Ability to take direction and work efficiently.

    ●     Experience working in a fast paced environment and under tight deadlines.

    ●     Ability to comply with standard operating procedures and company safety standards.

    ●     Experience with Microsoft Office.

    ●     Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred but not required.

    ●     Ability to lift up to 15lbs frequently.

    ●     Ability to accomplish repetitive tasks.

     

     

    Additional Information

    ●     This is a full time, 40 hour/week, position with the potential overtime when needed.

    ●     Normal operating hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.

    ●     Reliable transportation is required. Our headquarters is located in Jessup, MD, and is within a convenient commuting distance from Annapolis, Baltimore, and Washington, DC.

    ●     Ideal candidates will begin as soon as May 1st, 2020

    ●     Compensation dependent upon work experience. Benefits are available.
