    Campus Discipleship Director:

The goal of the Discipleship Director is to move people along “The Relational Path” of discipleship at Vox Church. Their primary focus is to LEAD LEADERS. This role focuses on the following key components:

Leadership Development: The Discipleship Director recruits, develops, and empowers leaders for Growth Incubators at Vox. Specifically, this role overseas Community Groups, ensuring that Community Group Leaders are recruited, trained, and empowered to shepherd and pastor the people of our church. They also lead the Coaching Team for groups and are responsible for launching new groups. Depending on the size and health of the campus, Discipleship Directors may also lead a Leaders Circle or a Community Group. Discipleship Directors meet regularly with the Campus pastoral team to address strategy and pastoral care needs.

Oversee Discipleship Pathway: On “The Relational Path” between Front Doors and Growth Incubators, there is a line. Between Growth Incubators and Leadership Development there is a line. The Discipleship Director manages the line by ensuring people are taking their next step to grow in their relationship with God in Heart, Head, and Hands, as they move through the Discipleship Pathway. This means that they help people move from Front Doors (like Group Link or Encounter) into Growth Incubators (like Community Group or Teams). They also invite those who are growing to step into Leadership Development opportunities.

Strategize and Execute a Calendar of Events: The Discipleship Director will work alongside the Campus Pastor and Next Steps Director in providing a campus calendar of Front Door opportunities as on-ramps to Growth Incubators. The Next Steps Director and the Discipleship Director work hand in hand. Next Steps will fill a Front Door with people, and both the Next Steps Director and Discipleship Director will lead those people into Growth Incubators. Together, they identify those at the campus who are ready for leadership and invite them to step into Leadership Development opportunities (Leaders Circle, Vox Institute, Team Leadership, CGL, etc.)

Support, Development, and Strengthening of Ministry Teams: The Discipleship Director will support Ministry Leaders to help move their team members along the Discipleship Pathway by providing training and leadership development opportunities when needed. (Care Team, Outreach Team, Next Steps Team, Family Ministry Team, Servant Team, Prayer Team, Men’s and Women's events, etc.)

Manage Discipleship-related Training: Classes include, but are not limited to Essentials, Following Jesus, Bible Studies, etc.

Each quarter, Discipleship Directors will set goals for how many people they seek to move across Line 1 (from Front Doors to Growth Incubators) and Line 2 (from Growth Incubators to Leadership Development).

The Discipleship Director works with two important teams:

Community Group Leadership: CGLs serve as the first line of defense for discipleship and pastoral care at Vox. These leaders are regularly trained to grow in their ability to spiritually shepherd people and do the work of the ministry. The CG Coach role exists to shepherd the CGLs by providing pastoral care, guidance, and support to encourage their growth as a Community Group Leader.

CGLs build deeper relationships with those who attend their group and guide them in their faith. The Discipleship Director, along with CG Coaches, helps support CGLs in their discipleship of group members and identifying those who are most appropriate to move into Leadership Development opportunities.

Campus Leadership Team: In the area of discipleship, the CLT primarily focuses on discipleship of those who have moved into the Leadership Development level of discipleship. This includes one-on-one meetings, moving future leaders through the CLT pipeline, and leading Leaders Circles. It may also include the development of Community Group Leaders.

    Attributes of Discipleship Director:

Great leader of teams (successfully lead Community Groups, Vox Teams)

    Great follow-up skills, reliable, diligent

A connector/people-person, with ability to creatively think about relationships and community-building

Pastoral heart, humble, growing in Heart, Head, Hands

Full of faith, eternity-minded, loves people, and LOVES JESUS
