POSITION:
The VMware Cloud Administrator is responsible for the effective design, deployment, configuration, documentation, and handoff of client virtualization environments as a part of Infrastructure- and Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) projects. These environments include Hosted Private Clouds, Dedicated Private Clouds, and Virtual Private Clouds in support of clients’ production and BC/DR needs. This individual works with project managers to understand the unique requirements of each client. They then assist with a team of other Cloud Services Administrators and Technical Onboarding Specialists to design and implement an appropriate solution for each of our client's unique environments and business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meet with clients to understand their requirements and needs as it relates to projects.
Design and document the virtualization environments required for providing our clients with the Infrastructure and Disaster Recovery services they seek.
Work with project managers and other CSE/TOSs to gain solution acceptance from the client, ensuring the solution meets their IT and Business needs.
Participate in the deployment of the virtualization environments in support of the designed solutions.
Provide documentation and technical specifications to other team members for maintaining and operating these environments for clients
Work with other teams VMware, Network, Storage, and Security subject matter experts in order to improve our service offerings and infrastructure as it relates to virtualization environments
Other responsibilities as assigned by Management
QUALIFICATIONS:
One-Two years experience operating and/or deploying VMware environments
Familiarity with technologies including, but not limited to: ESXi, vCenter, VMware Cloud Director, SAN, File, and Object storage environments (Nimble/Isilon/CEPH a plus),
Ability to solve problems in stressful situations
Strong attention to detail
Professional Verbal and Written Communication skills
Ability to explain technical concepts to inexperienced or non-technical users, through verbal communication as well as written documentation
Strong Time management and Prioritization Skills
Basic System Administration of Linux and Windows Servers
Basic understanding of computer networking
Telecommunications and Internet Technologies
Ability to work with limited oversight
