Job Summary:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and assisting with budgeting and auditing processes. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to work well within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger accounts.
Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Generate and analyze financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders as needed.
Support the budgeting and forecasting process by providing relevant financial data.
Assist in the preparation of budget variance analyses.
Process invoices and ensure timely payment to vendors.
Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances.
Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Support the implementation of accounting controls and processes.
Help review and submit monthly tax payments to the appropriate states or entities.
Ensure accurate and timely filing of all required tax documents.
Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as assigned.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
Proficiency in accounting software (preferably QuickBooks) & Excel.
Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication and organizational skills.
CPA certification is a plus.
