Church School Coordinator (Sunday Mornings and Monday Evenings)

Status: Part-Time, September through June (Non-Exempt)
Reports To: Director of Children’s Ministry
Salary Review: Annually by Executive Team
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position provides administrative and programmatic support to children’s and youth ministry programming. This is an up to 10-hour-a-week hourly position with continuing education dollars. This position takes place Sunday mornings from 7:30 AM-12:30 PM, and Monday nights from 5:30-8 PM with an additional 2.5 hours at a mutually agreed upon flexible time.
Children’s Ministry responsibility overview:
Provide support to the Children’s Ministry Director and serve the mission and vision of the Children, Youth, and Family ministry which includes the following:
· Coordinate, provide leadership, help recruit, support, and supervise Church School teachers, coordinators, and other volunteers.
· Welcome and register new families.
· Provide hospitality, support, and communication to volunteers.
· Arrange for substitute church school teachers as needed.
· Work with the Children’s Ministry Director to train volunteer leaders through training and support.
· Willing to work with the Children’s Ministry Director and assist with leading large group learning sessions as needed.
· Provide support and leadership for the Vacation Bible School ministry.
· Provide support for Milestone Ministry and Children’s Ministry Special Events.

· Available during program hours on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings, September through early May, including Vacation Bible School in June,
· Willing to provide help and leadership with other CYF programming as requested.
· Able to attend weekly staff meetings as needed and annual staff retreat.
· Supportive of and willing to participate in worship and fellowship at Word of Peace Lutheran Church.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree, 2-year degree, or 2 years related work experience.
· Cares for, understands, and relates well with families and volunteers.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Familiar with Microsoft Office software.
· Able to use multiple methods to communicate (newsletters, website, email, phone calls, notes, announcements, and presentations, texting, social media, etc.).
· Understands and maintains confidential information regarding staff, members, and visitors.
· Demonstrates competence in making decisions.
· Supports the theology of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
· Flexible and able to adapt to an ever-changing ministry.
