    POSITION SUMMARY

    WAITR is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. This position is in Lafayette, LA and reports to the Compensation, Benefits & HRIS Director.   The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring all aspects of the payroll cycle run smoothly, transmitted accurately and on time.  Success in this role will come from your experience and ability to work efficiently in a high-volume and fast-paced environment while still making sure data is correct.  

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    PAYROLL MAINTENANCE & PROCESSING

    • Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll for 7,000+ employees.
    • Create, update and maintain all employee payroll records to ensure accuracy of data.
    • Perform actions necessary to track and determine regular and overtime pay, and factors commission-based income or bonuses into an employee's salary.
    • Resolve payroll discrepancies.
    • Assists with payroll audits as needed.

    PAYROLL REPORTING

    • Calculate and process Federal and State tax and social security withholdings, other deductions, insurance, benefits, 401(k) contributions and company match.
    • Assist with preparing quarterly and year-end reports including 940, 941 and applicable state reports.
    • Compile and distribute and submit W-2's and 1099's.
    • Review and verify paperwork and documentation as needed for State Unemployment Taxing Agency (SUTA) audits

    SUPPORT

    • Answer inquiries from employees and managers and solve problems concerning payroll.
    • Communicate with managers regarding payroll errors, time changes after payroll cutoff, and/or holiday time reminders.
    • Coordinate with Benefits Specialist to reconcile insurance invoices (Health, Dental, Vision, etc.) to actual payroll deductions at least quarterly.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
    • 4-6 years' experience processing multi-state weekly/bi weekly payroll
    • Large volume processing 1000+ employees' payroll
    • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
    • Working knowledge of HRIS and Computershare preferred
    • Strong work ethic and team player
    • Ability to communicate sensitive and confidential information.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
