The Walker Art Center is seeking a qualified and capable BENTSON ASSISTANT CURATOR/ARCHIVIST. This individual will create programming for Walker’s Cinema and Mediatheque that focus on contemporary and experimental film and use of the Ruben/Bentson Moving Image Collection (https://walkerart.org/visit/mediatheque/). This grant-funded position will oversee the administration of this important historical collection as well as have the opportunity to work on cross-disciplinary projects. This position will also oversee the physical and digital use of the Bentson Mediatheque, monitor work flow, and budget expenses related to the Bentson grant, and works with the Moving Image Program Manager and Marketing/PR team to ensure the success of the program.
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
Qualified candidates will have an MA in Film or Media Studies or equivalent experience with particular knowledge of avant-garde film and cinema history, and an emphasis on moving image archiving including the preservation and access of digital files, 16mm, and 35 mm prints, as well as knowledge of other analogue formats preferred; must have experience with presenting films in multiple formats.
