    Warbird Consulting Partners is seeking an Interim Director, Strategic Provider Compensation for a $2.5B 6-hospital non-profit system in the Pacific Northwest. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance Strategy Planning & Analysis, the Interim Director, Strategic Provider Compensation oversees employed provider compensation pay practices in the health system including medical group. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring that provider compensation practices support the transition to a value-based care, are consistently and fairly applied across the medical group, meet all regulatory compliance standards, and attract and retain a strong provider team. This role is responsible for leading a small but focused team that designs, oversees, documents, communicates, and administers all aspects of employed provider compensation.

    Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Oversees all aspects of provider compensation including base pay/draws, wRVUs and production incentives, quality/value measures and related incentives, excess call pay, shift tracking and related payments, and the like. Includes both clinical and non-clinical compensation.
    • Manages compensation plan and pay practice design. Includes managing plan documents, annual updates, and mid-cycle changes. Acts as internal expert interpreting plan documents and current pay practices.
    • Provides oversight to the administers and processing of compensation plans and pay practices, including setting of base pay/draw, incentive calculations, excess call payments, shift tracking and excess shift payments, administrative payments, and the like.
    • Manages the communication of all compensation-related material. Includes communication to both internal and external stakeholders. Includes communication of pay plans, changes/updates, and administration (e.g. quarterly and annual statements to employed providers).
    • In conjunction with Legal Services and the Compensation Committee, ensures plans are designed and administered in a manner consistent with fair market value, commercial reasonableness, an all-regulatory compliance.
    • Ensures that provider compensation plans support our transition to a value-based care, are consistently and fairly applied across the medical group, meet all regulatory compliance standards, and attract and retain a strong provider team.
    • Oversees all financial modeling of current and considered provider compensation plans/practices.
    • Offer managerial and subject matter oversight of the provider compensation team.
    • Coordinate with the Finance team on wRVU tracking and mapping to ensure that all wRVUs are correctly allocated to each provider.
    • Oversees the use of market data in the calibration of employed provider compensation plans and pay practices.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Population Health preferred.
    • Experience developing comprehensive compensation plans and designing compensation plan changes and updated.
    • Strong preference for leadership experience in a medical group setting preferred.
    • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience managing or administering provider (physician and APP) compensation plans.
    • Financial modeling skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal development and presentation skills.
    • Knowledge of market data reporting/aggregation, fair market value and commercial reasonableness, and wRVUs.
    • Three years of experience in HR/compensation, Financial Planning/Plan Administration, and/or Medical Group Operational Leadership.
