Wardrobe Coordinator/ Production Assistant
Full-time (hourly)
Reports to: Production Manager
The Wardrobe Coordinator primary responsibilities include managing the Club’s collection of costume, wigs and makeup items. They will support the work of our Club member volunteer costume design team. There is a steady flow of new productions and relatively large number of show designers, the coordinator will take ownership of the inventory and maintain the system on an ongoing basis.
As the production assistant they will accurately track the City Club and Grove show status and ensure members are communicated with and responded to in a timely and professional manner. The PA (production assistant) has the responsibility of timely communication with Club Production Staff related to club event inquiries and provides up to date information as needed.
The successful candidate will be distinguished by their attention to detail and diligence of work habits. Our Theatre club produces a small show each week from September-May and several large performances in July. In June we spend most of our time preparing for our July performances. In August we are dark for member services but will perform inventory and maintenance projects.
Job Responsibilities:
Wardrobe
- Organize and maintain our shared costume inventory
- Ensure items are stocked for wigs and makeup
- Laundry and light cleaning of work areas
- Help maintain the integrity of each costume design
- Other duties as assigned
Production Assistant
- Assist members with show related inquires and inform them of event status
- Assisting volunteer member Stage Managers with workbooks and diagrams
- Assistance with special projects
- Coordination with other departments (receiving, janitorial, facilities, etc.)
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects assigned by management
- Other duties as assigned
Key Competencies:
- Must be polite, professional and ask how they can assist the member and take responsibility for handling the questions and requests of the member
- Must have strong computer skills and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint)
- Well organized and detail oriented with excellent follow-up skills
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be customer focused, self-motivated, approachable and able to work with different departments
- Must possess a high level of creativity, enthusiasm and flexibility
- Must have strong administrative office skills
Preferred experience and qualifications:
- Theatre background and/or education desirable
- Costuming experience is preferred, but not required
- Some level of inventory or library operations is preferred, but not required
Physical requirements:
- Stand and/or sit for extended periods of time, up to eight hours per day
- Perform occasional bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching
- Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 25 lbs. on an occasional basis
- Remain in standing position for extended periods of time
Approximate days/hours:
- Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm. Occasional overtime and weekends as needed.
