    As a Warehouse Associate you will support the warehouse operations in handling, organizing, inspecting and managing inventory in a warehouse that receives and delivers furniture. This role includes receiving shipments, quality control and inspection to ensure all furniture is received in good condition, warehouse organization, and operating forklifts/powered industrial trucks if certified (PIT) along with other Material Handling Equipment (MHE), while adhering to safety and operational guidelines. The ideal candidate is a team player with experience working in a fast-paced warehouse environment, that can multi-task while staying focused and productive, customer service oriented, and fine attention to detail.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    These refer to the essential tasks and responsibilities that define a job role. These duties are the

    core functions the employee is expected to perform regularly and are critical to the success of

    the position and overall business operations.

    Receive, unload, and inspect incoming furniture shipments

    Safely move and store furniture in the proper warehouse areas

    Follow safety guidelines for lifting, stacking, and handling furniture pieces

    Assist to label and date incoming shipments

    Process and inspect incoming items for damages, defects, or missing parts

    Process and inspect “write ups”, including investigation as necessary, to identify items that are received without paperwork via carriers such as FedEx, UPS, Amazon, USPS, DHL, RH, etc.

    For damaged items, obtain appropriate photos necessary of the damage to assist clients in initiating the claims process, notifying supervisors immediately so that they can then notify client in timely manner

    Assist with tracking received and outgoing shipments, update incoming/outgoing inventory, and ensure accurate and proper documentation

    Assist with basic furniture assembly as needed

    Use equipment like pallet jacks, dollies, and (if certified) forklifts and order pickers

    Assist customers who come to the warehouse for furniture pickups, providing excellent customer service

    Assist with returns and damaged product processing, documenting defects or shipping issues

    Work as a team with other warehouse associates and supervisors to organize warehouse storage space effectively

    Ensure cleanliness and organization in the warehouse and grounds (keep work areas clean, organized, and aisles clear of debris; pick up trash on floors/aisles as you encounter it; sweeping; vacuuming; cleaning bathrooms and breakroom; pick up trash in outdoor truck bay, parking lot and grounds as needed)

    Job responsibilities may change periodically based on the needs of the business

    Secondary Responsibilities:

    These are tasks and responsibilities that are not the primary focus of this role. These are to be performed as needed to support business operations.

    Actively participate in a collaborative team environment, or "all-hands" moving approach, always willing to cross-train across departments in a small team warehouse

    Assist in making phone calls to retrieve more information from clients, freight companies, or vendors/manufacturers (i.e. to identify sender/designer, sidemark, item description, etc.)

    Assist in addressing client customer service-related concerns or complaints about warehouse operations through proactive problem-solving with collaboration of other warehouse team members

    Ensure cleanliness and organization in the warehouse and grounds (keep work areas clean, organized, and aisles clear of debris; pick up trash on floors/aisles as you encounter it; sweeping; vacuuming; cleaning bathrooms and breakroom; pick up trash in outdoor truck bay, parking lot and grounds as needed)

    Communicate via email and/or phone with clients, freight/shipping companies, and vendors to report received items, updated warehouse locations, damaged items, missing items, order received statuses,and to address any inquiries

    Assist with data entry on inventory system online

    Assist in evaluating warehouse supply order needs in collaboration with Warehouse Logistics Coordinator

    Pull, restock, and stage furniture orders for deliveries and pickups with 100% accuracy.

    Assist with special projects as they arise

    Skill Requirements:

    Forklift Certification and experience with order pickers preferred but not required

    High attention to detail to ensure accurate inventory tracking, data entry, and quality control

    Experience in a warehouse or logistics role

    Understanding of proper lifting techniques and warehouse safety regulations

    Experience with inventory software such as Apple Numbers or Microsoft Excel or WMS preferred

    Excellent communication skills with ability to work well in a team-focused workplace

    High School Diploma or GED

    Proficient in using technology/computers and fast typing experience preferred (experience with Apple MAC-OS a plus)

    Ability to work with limited supervision

    Reliable with good work ethic

    Excellent time management skills

    Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task

    Excellent customer service skills

    Must be a U.S. Citizen

    Must be able to speak English

    Minimum Physical Requirements:

    Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time for the majority of work shift

    Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, pull or maneuver items weighing up to 100 lbs, with assistance of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) or use of another person for team lift for items weighing > 50 lbs

    Frequent bending, squatting, stooping & kneeling required for receiving and identifying pieces, handling inventory, scanning packages (when applicable), or organizing stock

    Frequent use of fingers, hands and arms for handling packages, scanning labels (when applicable), using tools, writing; using online warehouse inventory systems, typing, and use of mouse on occasion when applicable

    Ability to tolerate warehouse environment without central AC/heat with exposure to varying temperatures including extreme heat or cold, or very dry or humid conditions

    Ability to tolerate warehouse environment with common hazards such as travel of forklift, order picker, or other Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and the movement of people and furniture items of all sizes on a frequent basis with moderate to high noise levels

    Pay: $17-$18 per hour (depending on experience), paid weekly

    Job Type: Part-time to Full-time (24-40 hours per week)

    Schedule: Normal hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, off Saturdays and Sundays; we are closed on major holidays including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Scheduled work days may vary depending on needs of the business.
